Finally, mountains. We missed those. Today was uneventful. Drove to Denver and spent the night. We were going to spend two nights but decided that we wanted to go to Bryce Canyon and needed an extra night. Tomorrow we head thru the mountains. Good night.

May 10, 2009 - Cinco de Mayo

Happy Mothers Day to all you moms and surrogate moms out there. Why is it that on this day all we can think of is the wonderful things are kid have done? I know that at sometime they must have done things that I didn’t like but I can’t remember a one right now although I remember in vivid detail the day they were born and first placed in my arms. I don’t think there can ever be a moment to match that. I am one of the lucky ones that gave birth to three of my own and added five more through marriage. I hope you all have as good of memories...

May 9, 2009 - Coor's Lite Please

We thought that today would be a quick visit to Golden, CO to take the tour thru the Coors Brewery or should I say Miller-Coors since they merged last year. We didn’t see any evidence of Miller today but we sure did see a lot of Coors; way more than we even knew that Coors made.. We drove to the designated parking place for the tours and soon a van picked us up and gave us a short tour of the downtown area and a history of Adolph Coors who came to this country from Germany at age 14 and worked his way across the East until he came to...

May 8, 2009 - Red Rock Park and Amphitheatre Plus Costco's

How can we be so lucky as to visit both on the same day…… Well, I’ll tell you… We planned it….. The drive in yesterday took us around the West side of I-70 and we passed the Red Rock Park and Amphitheatre. I had been reading up on the area and knew that it was a must on our places to see. The fact that it was only a short six miles or so from us was a real plus since we didn’t want to do a heck of a lot today. What a great choice. Denver is a City of Parks. You can’t go very far without coming to a park or a trail. They really do a great...

May 7, 2009 - Hello from Denver

We left our wonderful campsite at Cheyenne State Park around 10:00 yesterday morning and drove to Denver. The short trip had us driving through the outskirts of Colorado Springs and almost immediately we were in the outskirts of Denver. We took the 470 bypass around the city on the west and soon were at our new campground in the town of Wheat Ridge. This park is right in the city and is almost all seasonal’s (year round) staying here. The sites are very close but the spot we are in is way in the back and we have trees and a small lake in...
