Yes, it rained all night! But actually, we were safe and dry and cozy and it was that sort of gentle rain that makes it so relaxing to be in a tent and listen to it pitter patter on the roof. I had a feeling it would all be ok, it eventually stopped, there was not flooding water or lightning and thunder, it was kinda nice! By the time we got back from dinner, there were several more hiker/biker tents in our area. We felt like part of an elite group! Jun 5, 2017 - Day 37 - Riverside, WY to Walden, CO
Today’s ride to Walden, CO was an ever-changing 49-mile ride with 2,621’ of ascent. The weather changed from beautiful skies at the start to a thunder storm just an hour later. The wind changed from calm to violent and changed direction so many times I lost count. I also changed from breakfast in Wyoming to lunch in Colorado. The terminus of today’s ride is Walden, CO, population 601 and elevation 8,099’. Walden is the Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado. Walden is in Jackson County, which is also known as North Park. GOOD MORNING fresh clean mountain air! We woke to a cool +7 in Granby Colorado. The mountain air sure helps you to sleep well, if it wasn’t for the 9 Amtrac trains that rumbled by and made sure they blew their horn to let us know they were coming from 50 feet away, it would have been a great night. We should have been more observant when we checked in but it was like a trial run in case we buy property close to a rail line!!! By the time we packed up and had coffee it had warmed up to +12 so we hit the road north toward Rocky Mountain...Jump to full entry
