Aug 16, 2013 - Day 2

Wednesday 8/14/13 We slept like babies after much laughter about getting undressed and into our PJs inside the little camper. It’s all a learning experience now. We got away from camp at about 9:30 again and started out across the rest of Iowa and Nebraska-The-Never-ending! Talk about corn fields!! They do grow a lot of our food so we have to appreciate Nebraska. Certainly something to behold. At 5:45 p.m we finally said good bye to Nebraska and entered Colorado. Lots of rejoicing! Here we passed huge tracts of corn fields that we figure...

Western Sojourn

Apr 17, 2010 - Sterling, CO

We finally left on Friday afternoon to begin this year's journey. We're planning on seeing much of the upper Midwest this year. Bill and I are both working on geneology. We recently bought the Ancestry software, and I've already started a family tree with the limited knowledge I have of my relatives (most of whom passed away before I thought to ask these questions). Bill started a family tree on paper years ago, and is anxious to fill in some of the blanks. I am from Minnesota, so I am looking forward to seeing the 'homeland' again. The...

Aug 19, 2009 - Sterling, Colorado

WOW! Things sounds so good at their website but seeing is believing and believe me, this will be another never again. They only had one site that could handle our coach and it had so much sand at the entrance we bogged down in the sand. Of course with Ken being able to handle the coach pretty good it didn't take him long to get us rolling again. The next day a couple we had met in Offutt's FamCamp pulled in next to us so we visited with them a little and the next morning we both headed off for better places. This place was called Buffalo...

Jan 11, 2009 - Day 2 on the road and we have left the snow behind

Well we woke up this morning in Sioux Falls to a dusting of snow. We headed west on Interstate 90 and the roads were dry and although a bit cloudy was a nice drive. We stopped in Mitchell to take a picture of Doreen in front of the Corn Palace. With any luck tomorrow we will be able to get to see the World's second largest ball of twine!! Hardly any snow it seems in South Dakota and the temps were about -5. Very nice travelling in this weather. We crossed over into Nebraska at a town in SD called Presho. Almost immediately we ran out of...

Jun 13, 2008 - Day 5: Laramie, WY to Fort Collins, CO to Sterling, CO

Wow, I don't believe this. I'm going to get two days documented in one evening! Not a lot to say about Day 5, but we did take a nice break to visit Michael's cousin Pam's sister Mary in Fort Collins. Mary gave us tea and a lovely lunch and we spent about 4 hours visiting before getting on the road again. Weather was lovely, sunny with big fluffy clouds and warming up. (Pam - I forgot to take my camera in to Mary's so sorry, didn't get any pictures.) Stayed at a very nice motel in Sterling, the Sundowner Best Western. Mike got a good swim in...

Aug 20, 2007 - Sterling, CO 8/20/2007

We left Tom and Debbie's house around 11:30 to begin the slow trek towards Waterloo, Iowa to see Matt. It was hard to leave as we really enjoyed our visit and are very lucky to have such wonderful friends. It was 80 degrees when we left Buena Vista. As we followed route 76 east, the temperature soared to 97 degrees. We stopped in Sterling, Colorado (in the northeast corner of Colorado) to spend the night at the Buffalo Hills Campground and RV Park. It is a nondescript campground, but we are able to get wireless internet in the trailer...
