Arrived here late afternoon yesterday. It was warm with a strong breeze. Campsite #175 with electric. Short trees surrounding the site but no real shade. Have electrical hookup so can use the a/c. Bruce and Jo due here today. The breeze has since died down and the temps warmed up. Very hot...a problem since I've developed a lupus rash on the top of my hands. Very, very uncomfortable and hard to treat. Equally hard to keep out of the sun. Bruce and Jo are here but in a different loop which turns out to be much farther away that it looks on...

Aug 24, 2008 - Ridgway State Park in Ridgway Colorado
August 24, 2008 After breakfast we drove around the South Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison and then down into the canyon on the East Portal Road. In 1909 the 5.8 mile Gunnison Diversion Tunnel was finished at this site and still delivers river water for irrigation to the Uncompahgre Valley. The road to the Diversion Tunnel is extremely steep with 16 percent grades and hairpin curves. It is open only in summer and vehicles over 22 feet are not allowed on the road.
