Sep 15, 2017 - All Good Things Must End

September 14, 2017 All Good Things Must End And when they do, there's a hell of a lot of dirty laundry in your van and a hell of a lot of weeds in your yard. I arrived home yesterday in the late afternoon after two long driving days from Yellowstone. Once I got to Rawlins, WY it didn't make a lot of sense to camp another night, especially since most of the National Forest campgrounds are closed for the season and the independent campgrounds are pricey this time of year, probably because there are a lot of hunters. Anyhoo, home I drove,...

Sep 6, 2016 - Barn Sour

September 6, 2016 Pueblo West, CO Several years back, there was a gal named Pat who hiked with the "Over the Hill Gang" from Pueblo and also the Canonland Hikers and Walkers. She was a bit of a character and conversations with her were always......well, I'll just stick with interesting. One day she was talking about the horses she used to own and said one of them was "barn sour". Being a city girl from Cleveland, OH I had no idea what that meant, so she explained that's what they call a horse who always wants to run to the barn because...

Jul 6, 2016 - Out West

We have left mid-America and are now in Colorado. However, we aren’t in the mountains yet. We are in Pueblo West which sits in the high desert climate in southern Colorado. Tomorrow, we head for the mountains and will be in Westcliffe – elevation 7,800 feet. Ahhhhh…. During our trek west, we visited a number of interesting museums along the way. As you know, we love museums but after eight years on the road you start to look for unique museums to visit. We found the Patee House Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri to be rather interesting. The...

Mar 9, 2016 - Best Laid Plans

March 9, 2016 Best Laid Plans So, I decided that two weeks was too long to not be able to hear out of my left ear. Several people said it was probably an allergy so I took decongestant/allergy medication for three days and it didn't help, plus my outer ear was numb and I was worried about nerve damage or something. Monday morning I left Borrego Springs at 6:10 am, heading north to Indio. I was armed with a list of thrift stores, the address of the date store (the kind of dates you eat), directions to the campground and tennis garden and the...

Sep 14, 2012 - Just an entry

9/13 Arrived in Colorado today and were greeted by Pikes Peak as we were coming into Colorado Springs. We drove down to Pueblo to visit my aunt, my mom’s sister, who I haven’t seen in two years. We had nice visits with her. We stayed at a campground/horse arena, so you can imaging the aromas we enjoyed. It really wasn’t a bad place, but I will say I’m glad we only spent one night. We moved down the road Canon City and to an absolutely beautiful campground. It’s called Mountain View and they don’t lie. We have a wonderful view of the Sangre...

Feb 28, 2009 - Pueblo West, CO

We are in southeast, co. We are staying at Dan's Mom's (Dannie) house while she is having her surgery. Our coach is in the shop having the body damage repaired. Last year, while we were here, we took our coach to a local dealer to have some warranty work completed and they drove the coach into a pole. So now they are fixing the damage. We hope to only be here a few days to a week. Dannie's surgery went well but the rehab is taking longer so they moved here to a rehab hospital. We will be here until she gets home and is able to get around...

Apr 14, 2008 - Pueblo Co - family

We arrived in Pueblo, CO to visit with Dan's family. We had snow most of the route and especially going over the mountain pass. We took our coach into pikes peak RV for some minor repairs and discovered once we got back to the campground that the technician drove the coach into a pole. They have agreed to perform the repairs but it won't be until next year since we are heading east for the closing on our final rental house.

Oct 5, 2007 - Montrose to Pueblo

This day trip took me over the Rockies! I am surprised that I could do that in one day and that I wasn't going up and down more than I did! I did go up one big hill and down the other side and had to go into first gear in order to make it at about 25 miles per hour, even with the Banks Power System installed. I dread to think how I would have made the climb without it! We followed the Arkansas River down the eastern side of the tallest mountain and even into Pueblo, where we will be staying for a few days to take in all the sites here.
