Sep 19, 2011 - Arapaho Glacier Trail hike
Lynne was determined to visit Nederland as she had heard so much about it's unique shops, amazing outdoor beauty, and vibrant music scene. Nederland started out as a trading post between the Ute Indians and European Settlers during the 1850s. The first economic boom to the town came when gold, silver, & tungsten ore were discovered near the rich mines of Caribou in 1859 and Eldora in 1875. Our 2 hour journey from Loveland to the trail took us via the vibrant city of Boulder up a winding mountainous road through the town of Nederland, the...

Sep 15, 2011 - Colorado Baby. Yeah.
When we woke up it suddenly wasn't summer anymore. We ate blueberry bagels in the car as we drove through the vast, flat plains of eastern Colorado. We stopped off at a Loves for coffee and picked up some free scratchies. Bella won $2(we think.) We invested this in breakfast. The nice Colorado Lotteries guy gave us free plastic thingies to use as scratchers, and one of those branded caribina things. It broke shortly there after. A man dressed as a chicken was wondering around the parking lot. We drove on to Denver. We had a Shanna to catch...

Jun 25, 2011 - Weekend with Family
Saturday, the 25th, we drove up to Nederland, CO to spend the weekend with my youngest brother and his wife. The first thing I noticed as we drove into town, (they are at 8200 ft) were the lilac bushes in full bloom!!! I love lilacs. Because they are so high, they were experiencing late spring. The tulips were blooming and the trees were still in their spring colors. The snow is melting off the mountains and the creeks and streams were running fast and high. We spent the weekend visiting, hiking (at 9000 ft), catching our breath and...

Jul 4, 2010 - July 4
One of the reasons we came to Loveland Colorado was to visit John and Marsha. John went to high school with Dick and they grew up on the same street in East Herkimer, NY. Last year we drove our car down from Wyoming to visit them and they took us through Big Thompson Canyon and into Estes Park. We were so intrigued by the beautiful scenery we had to come back for a longer stay. Besides their lovely home in Loveland, they have a cabin up on the mountain above Nederland, Co. We followed them there for a delightful 4th of July. We did not stop...

On our last day in Colorado we drove to Cigars on 6th to see Dan the cigar man, and then up to Nederland. We visited Bolder falls, and Golden before heading out to the airport for the flight back to Reno Nevada. We were sad to be leaving Dayna, but promised to be back by October 15th for an RV visit.
