Jul 14, 2011 - St Vrain State Park

Left my daughter's home in the Colorado mountains and traveled to the park where I volunteered last summer for a few months...visited with friends from last year and had to evacuate my site on the north side of the park about 8 pm as they were concerned that a dam might give was on the St Vrain river. All the campers on the south side had to evacuate and most moved to the south side as I did. All was fine the next morning and I left for the Black Hills.

Jun 25, 2011 - Worthing Adventure 2011 Last Day

Last day of actual vacation. Spent the last couple of days with Mitch and Jean in Colorado. Yesterday we went to Estes Park, CO to do some shopping and to see the Stanley House. It's the house that Stephen King based "The Shining" on. It was kinda neat to see it. Just now heading out ... this will be my last blog for this trip. Hope you all enjoyed the pictures and the blog!

Jun 21, 2011 - Worthing Adventure 2011 Day Nine

Day 9 10am Left the hotel and headed into Historic Park City for a little bit. It did put us a bit behind schedule but it was so adorable – and immensely expensive! I found several really cute things I would have bought had they been priced more reasonably. ☺ Also realized we were staying about 5 miles from where the Winter Olympics were held a few years ago. You can tell how much they built up the city when they had all the athletes staying there. It appears as though they still have quite a bit of increased tourism and population growth...

Oct 11, 2010 - We moved to St. Vrain, Colorado

We finally finished the house! It took two and a half years and we are glad that it is behind us. We moved the RV to St. Vrain campground in Longmont, Colorado. We're still not "on the road" yet because Gil has a few more days to wrap things up at work. It is very pretty here, sitting amongst the fall colors and in front of the lake! One more exciting thing . . . we have another granddaughter!! Her name is Makayla and we love her and her sister, Jasmine very much. That is the hardest thing about taking off on this adventure . . .

Jul 18, 2010 - St Vrain State Park

Enjoy this park and site 2 very much. Have a wonderful view across Sandpiper pond to the front range of the Rockies including Long's Peak, Indian Peaks, and Mt Evans, Rosalie, etc. Paved road and concrete pads with firepits, shade shelter over picnic table and large grassy site. Went to the farmer's market at Boulder County Fairgrounds and got the best vine ripened tomatoes of the year. Good corn, lettuce mix, English cucumber and yellow summer squash. Good eating this week...yummy! Been in the mid 90's many days but have 50amp service so...

May 21, 2009 - Last day in Colorado

After doing four loads of clothes without any water leaking we knew that the washing machine was fixed. Yippee! Deep in my mind I don’t think there was anything wrong with it except the water not being turned on but that is something Bill and I could not check out ourselves since there is no way we could move the units out to get to the faucets. We returned to Camping World without the Big Sky and told them that everything worked just fine once we opened the sewer valve and I had cleaned up all the water and sopped up the wet carpet. We did...

May 20, 2009 - The Good and the Bad

Lots has happened since my last post that included the beautiful sunset pictures on our first night at St Vrain State Park. I will try to take them in order so I get it correct. I have a tendency to mix things up when my mind wanders out of order. We woke up early to make sure that we got our Big Sky into Camping World early in the morning. We had an appointment to get our washer fixed and we didn’t want to spend a whole day there. Everything started out just fine. We were taken right in and did the paperwork and before we knew it, someone...

May 18, 2009 - Rocky Mountain Sunset

As I said before, today was the day we packed up after 13 days in beautiful Denver, Colorado.     We had such a wonderful time meeting up with old friends and then having my Sister Jan join us for a few days.      We drove her to the airport and had to just drop her off since they don’t have parking spaces for our big house. It wasn’t long before we had driven about 35-40 miles north to our next destination.     We are in Longmont, CO. at St Vrain State Park.     What a find.     Beautiful spot.We were able to get a pull thru site and just...

May 10, 2009 - Longmont, CO

We arrived at Brooke, Tony, and Addison's just after noon Friday. Larry pulled right in to the driveway and there was lots of room left for cars to go in and out of the garage. It was wonderful to be able to stay this close. Very convenient for spending more time together. Mothers Day morning Brookes' Mom and Dad, her brother Dodge, his wife, Joy, and their 3 kids came for breakfast. It is always nice to see them. Monday morning was a quick trip to Boulder so Addison could select her first 2-wheeler. She jumped on and took off, full speed...

May 5, 2009 - preparations

omygawd !!! auspicious beginning or what - already sent out the wrong date to meet in Fira. Keep checking through the details in my brain - and there's no more room left as it is. Astrid and Jayne leave tomorrow and they look like they will be going to awesome weather, it's sunny and mid 70's a nice change for all of us who are mightily tired of cold. Still working on restaurants to try in Fira - have a couple of good names - interested in seeing what the meals will look like and can't wait for the views from the caldera.

Oct 31, 2008 - Happy Halloween - we're back!

Well, we are back at St. Vrain State Park again. The trip to California was nice and sure got us itching to be movin' along soon. Jim still needed to follow up with the surgeon who worked on his hand and also with the regular dermatologist. As soon as Jim is cleared, we are outta here! We did take the time to see some friends and family. At the same time we had left for California, Daniel and Heather got in to Denver, moving back from Florida. We did make a point to see them and had a nice evening with them along with Bradley and Jennifer,...

Oct 13, 2008 - Denver attractions

On October 13, we moved back north to St. Vrain State Park. Jim's first appointment with the dermatology specialist was on the 14th. The procedure he was to have is calls a MOHS microsurgery, this was done on October 21. Basically, the way this worked was the surgeon removed a layer of skin, sent Jim to a waiting area and examined the skin under a microscope to be sure all the carcinoma was removed. Jim was taken back in to have more skin removed. The second piece of skin was examined under the microscope and when the doctor was sure all...
