Jun 22, 2012 - The last day in Golden
Today we got up and Sharon and I went shopping and out to lunch. What we do best. Went to the mail to get navy blue slacks as I left mine at home. I had white but did not want to be washing them all the time. Also got two push on antenna adapters at Radio Shack. Then got dinner to go at Whole Foods. Fred and Garry went to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory visitors center. They saw working models of cleaner energy technology. Fred said it was interesting. I am sure it was better than shopping. :) The weather was warmer today. We got...

Jun 21, 2012 - A fun day in Golden, CO
Had a leisurely morning. Then after lunch Garry stayed at the trailer with the grandkids so they could do some floating down Clear Creek. Sharon, Fred and I went to the American Museum of Mountaineering with history of mountaineering and rescue. Nice displays and a good film. Enormous changes have been made in the last 70 years. Then we drove over to the Red Rock Park and Amphitheatre. I was surprised how large it was. Inside there was a museum and I was surprised at the variety of artists that have performed there, even the Beatles....

Jun 20, 2012 - Golden, CO to see Sharon and Garry
Slept in a bit and then after lunch we went to the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum. I did not write down the names of the gems and minerals we saw. I just labeled them rocks. But they were so pretty and varied I thought I would share several of them with you. They had quite a selection. The school is very well known in the mining industry. Next stop was the Coors Brewery where we took a tour and then sampled a variety of selections afterwards. We liked several of the beers but not just plain old Coors. Too bland. That evening...

Jun 19, 2012 - On the road to Golden, CO
Left Barnalillo early as we had a 450 miles drive today. I read the AAA travel books as we drive along. So when I read about the U.S. Olympic training center in Colorado Springs I thought it would be appropriate to stop there since we are having the summer Oylympics this year. And we were due for a break. We had a young guide who took us around to all the training centers you will see in the photos. Some were closed for different reasons. It was late in the afternoon so the athletes were napping. They do most of their serious training in...

Drove across Denver today and will be here at Bear Creek Lake Park for the next week. Had a brief snowstorm in the afternoon and then the sun came out and it climbed to above 50 degrees. Took Vera and Casarina for their first walk around the park together... Cassy had her ears cropped on May 3rd and Suzette came for a visit and we went to the Red Rocks Grill in Morrison for excellent patty melt and onion rings... Brook came down to meet Cassy for a visit on 5.7 and I left for St Vrain on Sunday the 8th.

Back to Bear Creek for a couple weeks and hoping to be selected as a volunteer at St Vrain in the entrance station. Should be fun til it gets to cold to be in Colorado. Went to my first gun show, ate at the Morrison Inn which was great Mexican food and went to the firing range so had a wonderful weekend. Heading back up to St Vrain on the 13th where I will start my volunteer position on the 14th. Looking forward to a new adventure... Revisited with Angela and Darren as well as last year's camp hosts Dee and Dennis.

Trying to empty my storage lockers, doctor's appointments, visiting with friends and relatives. Very busy times plus lots of walks and bike rides with Vera. Vera had a play date with her buddy Sassafras and was over joyed to be able to see her again. Wonderful to see Brook, Michelle, Billy, Suzette, Harry and other Colorado friends.

Made it over 300 miles into the Denver area about rush hour Monday night. Good weather, little wind the entire trip. 20 minute construction delay in eastern Colorado but not bad drive at all. Park is relatively empty, lush green and beautiful. Site 47, 50amp power, full TV, phone and internet. Wonderful!!!

Sep 3, 2008 - AFTERTHOUGHTS
While many aspects of Chinese city life are fast becoming like westerners are used to, we’ve definitely been in a FOREIGN country. OLYMPICS: Having now attended the track and field events in both Athens and Beijing, we have found some definite comparisons. We really enjoyed the stadium, the nations’ flags waving in the breeze, and the crowd dynamics in Athens. We found there to be more food choices in the Olympic Green in Beijing. The landscaping in the Beijing Olympic Green is quite beautiful. The athletic competitions: 1) The Ethiopians...
