Jul 29, 2016 - While in Glenwood Springs

We have been super busy in Glenwood Springs. On Sunday Lee and Cheri took us on their raft and canoe down the Roaring Fork River. We put in around 11AM and pulled out at 3PM, floated about 5 or 6 miles. Monday Janet and I took Marlin and Aurora to the Hot Springs and had a great day. The weather has been perfect,—beautiful in the morning and a chance of a very slight thunder storm in the late afternoon, then clearing for outside dining. Tuesday Janet and the kids went to Aspen Glen, where Lee’s folks live, and used the pool at the rec...

Aug 17, 2015 - Rocky Mountains

Daily Mileage--203 Total Trip Mileage--4473 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Aire is parked in daughter Cheri and son-in-law Lee's driveway in Glenwood Springs, CO. 50 AMP and water. No charge for Pops. Friday the 14th was the last day I had to wear the splint on my finger. Typing is much easier now, although the feeling in that finger tip is much different than the others, kind of "thicker" feeling if you know what I mean. It will be a few more days before I can grip a golf...

Summer Trippin'

Mar 24, 2015 - Glenwood Springs

From one springs to another! We traveled over the Rocky Mountains and through the Glenwood Canyon to visit a couple of friends (Hi Matt & Lyssa!) and explore the western part of Colorado. The drive on I-70 was absolutely amazing; probably our favorite road so far on the trip. The truck slowed down going up those huge, winding mountains....I'm still not sure how the big rig truck drivers do it! On the way, we saw a herd of buffalo and big horned sheep! Some of the road sends you through tunnels built into the mountains. Quite an engineering...

Jul 8, 2014 - Hanging Lake

Hanging Lake is a 2.4 round trip hike up 1,200+ ft. Some parts have steep inclines to cover, it goes beside the Dead Horse Creek which keeps most of the hike cool. The Lake is on a ledge created when there was collapse of the ground, the Sprouting Rock creates the main water fall into the lake. There is a platform walk way over to seating areas. This was one of our favorite hikes, we arrived by 8AM.

Apr 19, 2014 - No Name, Co

Wishing you all a blessed Easter, We are currently camping alongside the Colorado River in No Name, CO. Had planned to stay only one night; but it is such a beautiful site and both Jack and IRVing are tired of all the driving we've been doing in the last few days that they deserve a two night stay vs the one night stops we've had since we left Arizona. Plus we didn't get here until 8:30 last night. In our last posting we were about to experience Bryce Canyon. It had been listed in our National Parks' book as thee park to see if you could...

Aug 30, 2012 - Glenwood Canyon Resort

/// Glenwood Canyon RV Resort Glenwood Springs, CO Thursday – August 30, 2012 We departed Rawlins, WY at 8:45 AM this morning. The first leg of today's trip took us west on I-80 for a distance of approximately 25 miles to the WY Hwy 789 exit. Hwy 789 south to the Colorado state line was a very nice road. Road conditions were great with very little traffic. Once we crossed into Colorado the highway changed to CO Hwy 13 and there is nothing nice to say about this highway. The road pavement was very rough interspersed with some short stretches...

Aug 12, 2012 - Climbing the Rocky Mountain Range

Climbing the Rockies on I-70. Whew! Glad that is over. The mountain range is a formidable obstacle to getting out west. It took nearly two hours of driving to reach the summit and back down. Although the Winnebago didn't necessarily struggle it sure sounded like it was using fuel at a phenomenal rate. No, I didn't stay in the fast lane. I shared the slow lane with trucks and RV's who were taking the route as slow as I. We left Aurora accompanied by another beautiful morning. We could see the mountain range as soon as we hit I-70 and...

Jul 12, 2012 - The journey begins

I had great plans to keep this blog up-to-date for the whole trip, but things just got away from me. The weather did not cooperate on the trip up hardly at all. It rained and rained. So – here’s what happened: On July 10th, I drove to Albuquerque to visit with my friend Sandra. I stayed with her for two nights and we went to a local casino and she helped me learn Craps. She did pretty well but I just paid for my evening’s entertainment. The next day we went shopping and had a great time. Thursday, July 12th, I left Albuquerque and drove...
