May 18, 2019 - Heaton Bay CG , White River NF May 18-21

Heaton Bay Campground in the White River National Forest Summit County in Colorado has been a favorite winter vacation area for us in years past. We used to head up this way for ski trips staying in condos in Frisco. Nearby ski resorts are Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek, and Vail. We skied them all. So breaking down in this area was an opportunity to spend some springtime in an area we love. Dillon Lake between Frisco, Dillon, and Silverthorne Colorado is beautiful however the snow melt has not occurred yet so it was...

May 16, 2019 - Glenwood Springs & the breakdown on Vail.Pass May 16 & 17

We drove past Glenwood Springs but saw some awesome hot springs resorts along the way. We want to return at another time and try one. Heading east on I-70 after leaving Glenwood Springs the road travels for miles and miles through a narrow canyon, so narrow that the westbound lane is cut higher on the canyon wall than the eastbound lane. Then there is a bike path below them winding back and forth all of which traveled alongside the Colorado River farther below. Crazy. We stopped at the I-70 rest area in the town of Rifle, CO. The rest...

Aug 16, 2018 - Colorado, Wyoming & Utah

It has been three years since we visited our beautiful state of Colorado. The mountains still call to my heart. We forgot how much we missed them and the smell of pine. We were fortunate enough to stay at Cliff Nemeth’s home parked on his personal lake which he had stocked with bass, catfish, walleyes, croppies & blue gills. (See picture of our campsite.) The fish have done well and provided for more than one meal while we visited. While we were only there for about 10 days, we managed to get in some appointments and visited with about 20...

Sep 30, 2016 - Colorado National Monument and Frisco

Over the border again – Bye-bye Utah, hello Colorado! So many national parks and so little time. We had to make a call about which places we could visit and which we’d have to miss. The decision was to go to the Colorado National Monument. It isn’t an actual monument, it is another national park of amazing rock formations. See the photos! We then headed in a direction we hadn’t initially planned, and what a lovely surprise. We ended up driving through the mountains that are famous for skiing. We drove past Aspen and into Frisco. Absolutely...

Jul 12, 2015 - Support and Sightseeing

Morning dawned and we continued to provide support for the bike riders, and got in a bit of sight seeing around Frisco. A typical little tourist town, but we enjoyed the weather and the walking. Tonight we are planning the next few days of our trip. Where to stay, what road to drive on. Those of you that know us, know that we never get lost, we just take some long detours. Those detours often provide us with the most entertainment. Make sure you check in tomorrow night to find out where we end up. On a side note, slept like a hibernating...

Jul 10, 2015 - Travel day to Frisco, Colorado

Got on the road this morning to drive to Frisco, Colorado. WOW, the weather was actually gorgeous today. Although we were traveling the 160, but in the opposite direction, everything looked different because we had no rain, fog, lightening or thunder. We had enough potty breaks so no one had to find a facilatree and practice the squatting while grabbing britches. Yup, that routine will have to be practiced when the availability of a shower is imminent. We arrived in Frisco around 3:30, found the condo that we are staying in for the next...

Jan 30, 2013 - Link to pictures from first 5 days

Photos of first 5 days This link should take you to the photos I uploaded to a web page. Travel starts in Nassau on 12/8, then to Montego Bay on 12/10, Cartagena on 12/12, Colon on 12/13 and through the canal on 12/14. This is my first try at a web page. I will separate the cruise into small groups rather than have photos from all 25 days in one link. That would overwhelm a viewer! Hope the pictures make you feel warmer if you are in freezing temperatures right now.

Sep 9, 2012 - Frisco, Colorado

Stayed two days with our friends, Jim and Jean Hammond. We hadn't visited with them since 2000 although they attended Mike's wedding since that time. We arrived just as the carpet layers were leaving after installing a beautiful new carpet throughout their condo (all 4 floors). The weather continues to be perfect for traveling. There were a couple brief 10 minute rains but they didn't hinder our siteseeing. We spent a day browsing shops in Vail. In the evenings, we had a good time playing bridge but good cards eluded us. This morning it is...

Sep 5, 2012 - HOME

It's great to be back home! The whole trip worked smoothly from parking at Super 8 in Denver for under $3.50/day, to shuttles, to motorhome rental, to finding good RV parks...just wish we could have found more sunshine in AK. I'll download lots of pictures from the camera and the iPad in the next day or so. I didn't take time to figure out how to send them from the iPad while we were traveling. Sorry to those of you who wanted to see what I was writing about. I'll put some of the more interesting ones together & get them sent within a...

Oct 31, 2011 - Boondocking Walmart

We are back on the road again. They finished our repair work around 4 this afternoon. We drove about 175 miles to Frisco, Colorado. We got off the exit to find a campground and realized it was closed for the winter. Yikes! It was dark so we pulled in at Walmart and boondocked. What a way to spend Halloween night. We heard noises all night from the kiddies out having fun. We wish we had more time to visit Frisco, it looks like a neat town to visit. We will be back on the road again tomorrow with about 150 more miles to Colorado Springs....
