Jun 29, 2017 - Final Thoughts

It's good to be home!!! After 34 days on the road all we want to do is sleep, jump in the pond and play ball. Mom and Dad are still taking us for daily walks and won't let us go to bed when we're tired at 8:00 pm but that's okay; they are training us for the next trip We had such a great adventure. Here are some of the highlights from our trip: 1. We drove a grand total of 8,702 miles over 34 days. 2. Cost for gas was $2,764; we bought 784 gallons of gas at an average of $3.53/gal. 3. Surprisingly, we got 11.1 MPG. 4. Camped out 33...

Aug 8, 2012 - A Day in the Mountains

After spending recent days in cities, we headed for the hills. Our first stop was the Red Rock Park and Amphitheatre. The outdoor amphitheater seats 9,500. It is beautiful. Apparently the acoustics are terrific and there are concerts almost every night in the summer. The photos will give you an idea how beautiful this setting is. Most of the famous rock groups have performed there including the Beatles, U2 and Bruce Springsteen. Performers like James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt are there this summer and many other groups that are unknown to me...

RV Trip Summer 2012

Jul 5, 2012 - Colorado!

It was hard waking up everyone this morning from our late night last night, but we managed to get on the road at 10 am and headed to Colorado. The day started with a very nice rain! No complaining here, as we would be spending the day in the van anyway and the rain is very much needed! We had a very beautiful drive among the mountains of Utah and Colorado. We saw the scenery change from dessert like (red sand, rocky and very little green) to the pine tree covered Colorado mountains and much more green. Our 7 hour car ride was uneventful and...

Jun 24, 2009 - Day 14 - Colorado Springs to Evergreen, CO

Toady: 190 miles Total: 3396 miles Dale: Today started out as a beautiful day. Clear skies and temps in the low 60’s…mountain air. Bob met us at our motel around 8:00 and we followed him through the city towards Pikes Peak. As we headed through the city we started to see what looked like horse sh.t in the road. Denise and I were swerving around most of it…but not all of it. Then we started to smell what smelled like horse sh.t. We couldn’t see ahead of Bob’s pickup very well, but when we finally could, we saw that there were people riding...

Oct 14, 2007 - Evergreen, CO

Decided to head east today instead of going to the national park. Ralph seems anxious to see his daughter, Holly. We decided to go to Vail, or nearby, and find a place to stay and visit with the kids a few days. Unfortunately, we discovered that there are virtually no RV Parks in this narrow corridor over the Rockies. My theory is that the value of land is so high that the developers could not possibly spare land for RV's when they can be building multi- million dollar homes on the same space. We arrived in Vail only to find no place to...
