Aug 17, 2016 - West Fork hike

We took the atv up 861 to the end of the road and hiked up the Middle Fork trail 2 miles. This followed the wf of the Cimarron river and had outstanding views of the surrounding 12,000 ft peaks. We were in the Uncompghare Wilderness area where only hiking and horses are allowed. However, cows graze up there and we got caught in about a 30 cow stampede. Luckily they ran the middle route away from us. Then we got caught in a hail storm and 48 degrees. Back to camp to get warm and dry! Looked out our back door and 3 cows were just walking...

Jul 20, 2013 - Cimarron, Colorado

We visited the historic town of Cimarron, Colorado today. They have a beautiful campground with huge sites right on the river. We are searching for the perfect place for our next move. Cimarron, Colorado, is located 20 miles east of Montrose on U.S. Highway 50. Today it is a small, quiet community providing visitor access to Morrow Point Dam, fishing along Cimarron Creek, and boating on Crystal Reservoir. It is another beautiful area in Colorado.
