May 20, 2018 - Denver and an old friend 5-18-18

We had a fine time visiting with Tom’s friend Tom. We had breakfast at a neighborhood café. I had a blueberry pancake with fresh lemon curd and blueberry compote. It was really good and I love good lemon curd. On our drive to Tom’s we saw a few Canada Geese in the road with their goslings – parenting classes???? I have never seen the goslings so that was kind of cool. There are plenty of birds here in this metropolitan state park and I enjoyed a short nap and then some bird watching at our campsite. There are a ton of magpies (which I love,...

Apr 1, 2012 - The Big 65

Today Mary turns the big 65 and she received quite a few calls and e-mails from friends and family wishing her well, nothing planned for today yesterday served as her birthday celebration. This morning there were 17 deer among the RV's, I guess the mowed grass in the park makes for better grazing. Mary gave me the option of helping with the house cleaning or doing laundry so I did three loads. Stayed home all day today besides laundry I got in a little banjo practice, a couple of good long bike rides and watched the NASCAR race from...

Mar 31, 2012 - Win Some Lose Some

We were up and out the door by 9AM for the 40 mile drive up to Black Hawk so Mary can play her penny machines and have a nice lunch for her birthday tomorrow, Mary won and I lost so it ends up we about broke even. This time we only made one wrong turn getting home so we got back just before dark. You can sure tell we are back in a drier climate , had to breakout the chap lipstick and hand lotion. .

Mar 30, 2012 - So Much For My Lucky Day

Early this morning I seen a herd of 10 deer grazing about a hundred yards or so from our site among the RV's. Went into the Trane office this morning, had a nice chat with Stacey Hieb the district manager for the Rocky Mountain region. Later we went to lunch with Mark Easterly, Mark became the parts manager in Denver shortly after I started with Trane Sacramento in 1982, we also served on the National Parts Council together. This afternoon we toured the Forney Museum of Transportation (www.forneymuseum.org), we got home early enough to try...

Mar 29, 2012 - $130 For Crossing The Line

Our day started with my getting a $130 ticket for crossing the solid white line on an exit only lane. We were on our way through Denver to see the Colorado RR Museum(coloradorailroadmuseum.org) in Golden. A lot of historical and unique railroad equipment and displays but could use some TLC and better information signage. We stopped to visit the City of Golden on the way up the canyon to Black Hawk so Mary could satisfy her itch to play the penny machines, she lost some and I won some. Even with Lily's help we managed to make about 3 or 4...

Mar 28, 2012 - Cherry Creek State Park

We expected to see heavy smoke from the wildfire that is still burning out of control south west of Denver, I guess Monday the smoke here was really bad but the wind has changed direction since and it is a bright sunshine shine day in the mid 70's. We will be staying at the Cherry Creek State Park (www.parks.state.co.us/Parks/CherryCreek/Camping/.../Camping.aspx) in Aurora a suburb 15 miles southeast of Denver. Colorado sure has nice state parks, this park has 152 sites and would rival any RV resort in cleanliness and amenities. Uneventful...

Sep 26, 2011 - Colorado - finally!

Cherry Creek State Park just south of Aurora, CO is about the only nice place to park an RV in the Denver metro area. Someone looking for a business could really do well with a nice clean well-managed RV park in the Aurora area. So, we "suck it up" and pay the outrageous state park fees and the daily entrance fee - PER CAR. By the time we are done with all the fees for non-residents, it averages about $35/night:( So, we compensate by spending less time there than we would at a more reasonable price. Our reason for spending time here is to...

Sep 26, 2011 - 18th Ward Reunion

In the LDS Church, the congregations are called "wards". When we joined the church in 1972, the Denver 18th Ward was our assigned congregation. It encompassed much of east Denver and all of Aurora. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There were so many wonderful people there and the activity was high. It became the "best" ward that we have compared all others to in our "church" life:) We had a great attendance at the reunion. It was a wonderful time to see old friends and to share experiences and memories. The Fafita family served us...

Jan 29, 2007 - India - A Recap

Ahh - Always good to be home. We just got back yesterday and as you can see from the time of this e-mail - sleep is a little jacked. We realized we have so many sweet pics we wanted to add to the site, but never had the time or the patience. We have added some more in this section from the entire trip. Have a look see if you are interested. Thanks for tuning in. It was a wonderful experience. We learned, saw and did so many things that we thought we'd never get to do otherwise. Brian described India and our trip in one phrase which sums it...
