Aug 12, 2012 - Peak to Peak Highway
It was time for another day into the mountains. We're sort of use to mountain driving by now and so it is not quite so nerve-wracking. It was a beautiful day and our destination was Golden Gate Canyon State Park. It was much cooler when we got to Lookout Point where we had a picnic lunch, probably 70 degrees. Looking west one could see the mountains of the Continental Divide. At the Visitor's Center we got to feel the pelts of various wild animals from black bear to skunk to red fox. Sometimes enjoyment is just from touch! After visiting...

Jul 26, 2011 - July 26
We are stopped for a couple of days in Central City Colorado. Our campsite is at 9000 feet and overlooks a valley where we can see the town, and some old mines. The journey across Kansas is just what we expected. We stayed one night in Topeka at a KOA. There were two ponies next to our camper that we had to feed carrots and apples to and of course that pesky monkey just would not stay away. Day 20 Friday 2nd May, Central City -US Air Force Training Academy (page 2, E12) For all the snow and cold conditions we experienced yesterday, plus we had an overnight low of -7c, this morning provided us with clear blue skies, icy winds but no snow. Steve was interested in visiting the US Air Force Training academy, which is situated on the northern side of Colorado Springs. Once through their security, Steve only had to produce a driver’s licence – the US Air Force guard looked very stern, then handed the licence back and with a wiry...

Day 2 return trip, Sunday April 6/Jour 2 du retour, samedi le 06 avril We drove on I-70 eastward through the mountains of central Utah. At one point we reached an altitude of over 8,000 ft. What magnificent scenery. There were rock formations of many different colors and an endless variety of textures. The photos posted give only a small taste of what we saw. In the afternoon we crossed the border into Colorado where the mountains continued and there were patches of snow in the fields along the highway. Although the rock formations were not...

Nov 8, 2007 - Trip to the Mountains
While the coach was being serviced we had a day out in the Rocky Mountains. It was a beautiful day but cold at the higher elevations. We found Echo Lake where we had a lovely walk and Jenny was able to play in the snow. We then carried along the road stopping to admire the wonderful views.
