Sep 8, 2010 - A Change in the Weather . . And Another. . And . . .

We enjoyed a great diversity of weather today. We joined Dan and Sue in their 1987 Jeep station wagon and headed towards the mountains with our cooler full of picnic goodies. We climbed up to over 10,000 ft. into the Grand Mesa National Forest. The weather was overcast with thick, dark clouds all around us. There are over 300 little lakes in the Grand Mesa area and lots of beautiful evergreen trees untouched so far by the bark beetles. We stopped at the visitor center where we saw a topographic map of the area which really showed the mesa...

Pretty Damn Nice!

Sep 7, 2010 - Cedaredge, Colorado

We enjoyed our quiet, uneventful holiday weekend. John participated in his annual Fantasy Football draft on Monday as I spent a couple of hours walking through the local WalMart. During the weekend, as I sat outside and read, I watched several flocks of geese flying over in formations, heading south. -- This morning, we traveled a short 38 miles north to the tiny town of Cedaredge. My cousin, Suzi (Sue) and her husband, Dan live on three acres in a gorgeous home they built themselves in Cedaredge. This is the first time I have seen them...
