Wednesday 12/22- We started laundry early today and were done by 10:30. Bob took off to buy my Christmas present. I cleaned up the motor home a bit. We ate lunch, then Bob dropped me off at my hair appointment and he went to Breckenridge Sports to pick up a new pair of goggles. This is a Christmas present from me, but he has to try them on so I can’t actually buy them. We were off to the library to pick up a book and some DVD’s, then back the motor home. Bob worked on cleaning out some of our ‘slush’, as it was a sunny day! The first one...

Saturday- this was a very busy day for us. Bob called Excel Electric to try again to straighten out the bill. He explained that they have the wrong address. Turns out they completely have the wrong address. Although the address on the envelope was to the wrong site; that is the only site that they have in their computer for Tiger Run. To get to Tiger Run, you turn off Revette Road. Then turn left into the resort. The resort street is Tiger Run Road, and each site has a number on Tiger Run Road. A few years ago, the county, with enhanced...

Saturday- Guest Services orientation. We were up early, packed our lunch, headed for City Market to return a Red Box Video ( Iron Man 2, we had watched Iron Man 1 on Thursday evening). We were able to park for free in the south Gondola Parking lot, and that is where we will be parking from now on. We had to hop on the “red” bus which took us to the Great Divide Lodge, where the orientation was being held. This first day was from 9-4 (arrival at 8:30 for social time, coffee and pastries). Sandi and Lori began the orientation with a very cute...

Saturday started off well. The weather is warmer, sunny, with temps in the 20’s. I took the dogs for a long walk, emptied the trash, and shoveled some snow. We paid bills and it was already time for lunch! After lunch I took the dogs on another long walk, then it was time to empty the tanks. This is usually Bob’s job, but with his knee, I had to do it… What fun! First, the bay door was frozen shut, so I had to work on getting it open. I managed to put all the parts together, put the tubing into the drain, and could not get the valves open....

Nov 27, 2010 - Sat Nov 20-Fri Nov 26 Vail & Breckenridge CO

This was such a busy week, it went by quickly. We woke up on Saturday morning to a weather forecast of snow in feet, not inches. Because Bob’s surgery is first thing Monday morning, and we have to be at the hospital at 6AM, we had made reservations for Sunday evening at the Evergreen Hotel behind the hospital in Vail. The snow is supposed to start Saturday evening, so we decided to go ahead and drive over to Vail on Saturday instead of Sunday. The price for the Evergreen in Vail, with the hospital discount, was $148 with taxes for one...

Another busy week. Saturday we rec'd an email from our landlord. He had received a 'nasty-gram' from the resort. We had not painted the insulation under the motor home. Since we are doing a private rental, they had not given us the paperwork that states that we had to make sure that the insulation matched the motor home. So we had to start looking at paint. Bob bought a can of spray paint to make sure that the paint would stick to the insulation. It did, so we went to the hardware store and purchased a gallon of brown paint that can be put...

This has been a different week. Sat and Sun Bob really worked hard on getting the insulation on the motor home as we are expecting snow. He ran out of insulation, screws and washers on Sun morning so we had to run to Silverthorne to the True Value. While we were there we also picked up a small heater for the living room. After the sun goes down, the living room cools off because we have such nice big windows. As we were leaving Silverthorne we had a snow shower, with the snow really coming down, but not sticking. On our evening walk we met...

We have had an interesting week. Saturday and Sunday we continued to run around Denver picking up stuff we thought we would need in the mountains and were afraid that we would not be able to purchase easily. Here is a picture of our site at the Elks Lodge. We had a nice view of a rainbow from the motor home. Here are pictures of the snow covered mountains. . Saturday evening we went with 3 other couples to Las Delicias, a Mexican restaurant. We had a great time. The food was excellent and so were the Margaritas. We will definitely return...

Saturday morning and again it is a beautiful day! It is supposed to get close to 80 degrees, love this weather! We went to Breckenridge today, not realizing that it was Oktoberfest, how lucky can we get! The town shut down about eight blocks of the downtown area for beer and wine tents, and food tents, oh my gosh so many food tents! All the shops were still open on the streets as well. There were polka bands playing and this town took this all very serious, people were dressed in German costumes all over. There was a kids section set up...

We were up early and decided that we needed to find a new bank. We are with Bank of America. They have lots of ATM's. but no branches in Colorado, which means that we could not cash checks that we have been carrying around with us. So we went to a Wells Fargo and opened an account. If we are going to spend 6 months here, we needed bank access. The bank rep suggested that we talk to the Guest Services Director about volunteering at the resort, as he does. So once we finished at the bank, we went to lunch @ Bubba Gumps for a seafood meal, then...

Monday morning the resort had water aerobics, so at 8:15 I was in the pool. Bob and I went to the rec center and put in 3 loads of laundry before class. Class ended at 9:15, so Bob came over and moved the laundry to the dryers and met me in the hot tub. After showers and folding/hanging laundry we spent time deciding if we need to work to pay for the winter season. We crusied through Breckenridge, but it started to rain, so we returned to the motor home. Had dinner and watched TV.

We were up early and attended the pancake breakfast put on by the campground. They did a very nice job! We then went to the local farmer's market and picked up fresh sourdough bread, tomatoes, corn, and the biggest head of romaine lettece that we have ever seen. We returned to the campgound and picked up the RV and drove north on Rt.24. We took the detour around Leadville and just north of town went northeast on Rt.91. I do okay in the motor home as long as there are shoulders and guardrails on the road. There were not on this road, so it...
