Jul 31, 2015 - Moving along

After spending 8 days in the Frisco, Breckenridge, Dillon, and Silverthorne area we left for Gunnison. We took some great trips, touring the areas, the last day we went to the Frisco Old town area, but unfortunately it was closed. Glad to get in lower elevation and a little warmer, thus far we’ve been without rain. Yesterday we were in Crested Butte for lunch and touring around, took Maddie with us; lunch on a patio that allowed dogs, there were 3 very big ones at adjoining tables, so she was very quiet and well behaved. Shirley and I had...

Jul 22, 2015 - Breckenridge

Leaving Steamboat we had to detour to avoid road construction, the road we traveled was a beautiful drive but lots of ups, downs & curves. Last few miles we hit rain and as we pulled into the RV Park it poured. Fortunately as we found our site it had quit and we were able to get all hooked up and Maddie walked before it rained the rest of the evening. The picture of us eating lunch on the river was in Steamboat, lovely view and excellent lunch. Must say eating for me has been easier in Colorado, much more aware of gluten free than Texas....

Jul 29, 2014 - Dog Fashion Model

Cool day. Myla is able to wear one of 3 outfits that I brought for the trip. This one is a hoodie pullover in sky blue and olive drab. See how she poses for the camera. I have knitted well over a dozen doggie sweaters, most of which I have given to other boxer dog owners

Oct 18, 2013 - Breckenridge, Colorado

We visited Breckenridge again today, it was even more beautiful than the last visit. Everything was covered with snow, it looked like a winter wonderland. I was wishing I had my sister was with me, she is a wonderful artist and would have loved to paint some of the incredible scenes we saw today. We had lunch at the Wasabi Japanese Restaurant and enjoyed it much. We had planned to have lunch at the Gold Dredge Restaurant, but it was closed. The Dredge is a two million pound floating restaurant, a replica of one of the largest and longest...

Sep 29, 2013 - Drive To Breckenridge

We finally got out of the house today and drove to Breckenridge, Colorado. Jerry has been really sick for days, he had a tooth that got infected. The dentist would not pull it, he put him on antibiotics for ten days. He almost had to go into the hospital it was so bad. Anyway, he is back to normal now and doing well. We REALLY enjoyed this scenic drive to Breckenridge after ten days at home. :-) We were surprised to see a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant in Breckenridge, we had awesome shrimp and walked around the town and shopped in...

Aug 20, 2013 - Tiger Run RV Resort

This truly has been one of the most beautiful parks we have seen. The landscape is lush and green and the scent of pine is in the air. Along with spacious RV sites, there are park models, built to look like authentic log cabins. Even though this park is in the woods, we had no trouble receiving our satellite signal. Good thing because Doug needs his Sunday "fix" of NASCAR! Luckily we can tape it and go out exploring the area, then when we return, he can view the race commercial-free. The weather is chilly in the morning...high 50's, and...

Aug 19, 2013 - High Altitude Sickness

I just googled "High Altitude Sickness" or is it a "Rocky Mountain High"? I found the answer to a few of the symptoms we have been experiencing! "Headache"... Doug thought it was the Coors lite, so he gave it away! As for me... I didn't give away my wine! I will suffer through! "Soldier on!!!" "Difficulty sleeping"...Doug thought it might be our mattress. I stopped him from giving THAT away! "Confusion"...Doug left the water on while filling the tanks...TWICE!!! Luckily it was raining outside so the neighbors just assumed the sudden...

Aug 18, 2013 - The Sock Hop

The park offered a Sock Hop to all the campers and they did not disappoint! I didn't have socks...I wore my flip-flops...so would it then be called a "Flop-Hop"? "Doo-Wop Denny" entertained us by performing all the oldies. It was fun watching all the folks sing along and get out on the dance floor to show us younger kids how it was done...back in the day! Doo-Wop even got into character as he sang "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog " wearing Elvis style glasses and sporting big bushy sideburns. We rode our bikes around camp, getting the lay...

Aug 18, 2013 - A report from Cap'n Hale

To say this is the hardest day but the most beautiful day of driving would be an understatement! So far this has been the most picturesque part of the trip...and the most treacherous! We left Green River, Utah (and the dirt field KOA calls a campground) to cross into Colorado. The Colorado River winds its' way, as rivers do, so the highway follows its' path. It is very difficult to keep your eyes on the road while trying to view the beautiful surroundings. We drove from an elevation of 5,200 feet to the summit at 10,000 feet. We drove...

Aug 17, 2013 - Breckenridge, CO

While we were driving to Breckenridge, Colorado, I had been calling Tiger Run RV Resort to secure a site for 3 nights. The line was continually busy. I was only able to leave a message. Finally, John called back and said that they had ONE spot left and I could have it! I am feeling lucky today! I checked their activities calendar on the website and they are having a Sock Hop tonight with Doo-Wop music! Dang! I forgot to pack my poodle skirt and saddle shoes!!! Pictures to follow....

Aug 17, 2013 - Colorado! So much to see!

The drive from Utah to Colorado was exciting and fascinating! Make sure to go back to "Breckenridge, CO" as I added some new photos! The scenery was amazing and the Colorado River was our constant companion throughout the day. We were entertained along the way by river rafters, paddle boarders and kayakers! The urge was so great to pull over and enjoy a crazy float down river! We saw a whole community of pup tents along the river and found out that the US Pro Challenge is in town this weekend! This bicycle race pits elite cyclists from all...
