Jul 31, 2014 - Golden Gate Canyon State Park

47 degrees this morning at 9773 feet with spitting rain at the Molly Brown campground on Turquoise lake. We had to get to Golden, Colorado today so Bill could see an eye doctor that his Dr back in NC recommended. We are going to drive up past Central City to the GGC park and camp at Reverend's Ridge once Bill gets finished. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in the parking lot looking out at 10,000 ft. mountains in the distance catching up on the journal since we have been out of cell range more or less for 3 days. Sun is out and 70 at 4pm. Bet...

Oct 16, 2012 - Clear Creek Canyon

We did a bit of exploring today. We drove about 50 miles from Denver to the Clear Creek Canyon Park. The drive was incredible with steep canyon walls and crystal clear water. We saw people fishing for trout and a lot of people were panning for gold. We wished we had known about the gold panning in the area, we would have loved to pan for gold, but we were not prepared. The leaves on the trees in the canyon are flaming with beautiful colors. We went through three tunnels in the area. It was a breathtaking drive and we enjoyed it much. We...

Sep 9, 2007 - We are HOME

Sat & Sun Sept. 8 - 9 Homeward bound - just driving. Spent Sat night in Cheyenne and then home by late afternoon where a great meal was awaiting for us, prepared by Adam. It feels good to stop driving for awhile and stay in one place. We had a great adventure. Only by driving to Alaska can one really appreciate the vastness and the wildness. We hope it stays that way for a long time! "Wander here a whole summer, if you can. Thousands of God's wild blessings will search you and soak as if you were a sponge, and the big days will go by...

Jun 18, 2007 - On our way to Denver area

We left Clifton, (Grand Junction), Colorado, Monday morning, June 18th. We're headed for Black Hawk, Co. which is 219 miles. We stopped at a half-way spot and spent one night in the city of Gypsum. Beautiful drive through the Rockies. Stopped at Vail, but by far the prettiest spot was Breckenridge, Colorado. We pulled over into a rest scenic stop and had lunch. Very simple to fix something to eat in our motorhome. What an ideal place to have a meal! Destiny and Bandit fit right in with their suroundings. I was in awe of the beauty around us...
