Oct 2, 2018 - South Fork to Bayfield & Durango, CO

Our last night in South Fork the owners, workampers & several of the summer-long guests celebrated the end-of-season at our favorite restaurant - Ramon's. It was a fun night & Tanna capped the evening with the first ski-shots of the fall/winter season for everyone. We had a great group of people there this year & think it was the best season so far. We'll see if we can top it next year! Yesterday we hooked up the "train" (it's the first time we've double-hitched) & headed up over Wolf Creek Pass, through Pagosa Springs & on to Bayfield, CO....

Sep 23, 2018 - Travel day

We left our lake campsite and started to head to Durango by way of Creede and Pagogsa Springs. The beetle infestation has really devastated the area near Creede and up to Slumgullion pass. It was much better coming through Wolf Creek pass to PS.The 2 campgrounds that we were going to stop at were closed due to fire restrictions so we found a forest service Rd and boondocked there after having a tough time backing the trailer back down a rough road to a site. Made it finally and had a view of Chimney Rock Anasazi ruins across the valley from...

Aug 9, 2016 - Bayfield, CO

Today we left for Durango at 7:45am and caught a bus to Silverton. It was a 2.5 hour drive to Silverton with lots of beautiful scenery along the way. We arrived at Silverton at about 11 am and went to lunch at Handlebars. The elevation in Silverton was over 10,000 feet above sealevel. We found out while looking around that the train we supposed to take on the return trip broke down. We had to ride a bus back down to Durango due to the train breakdown. Tomorrow we head to Chama, NM.

Aug 8, 2016 - Bayfield, CO

Today we went from Mesa Verde, CO to Bayfield, CO just outside of Durango, CO. It was a pleasant drive and the RV park is wonderful. A brook transverses the RV park and they have lots of grass, which Lucy loves. We went out for a country drive and the scenery is great. We had an ice cream social sponsored by the caravan and discussed our trip to Silverton tomorrow. Lucy loves the grass and all of the two and four legged friends she meets.

Jul 31, 2016 - Vallecito Lake Resort (7/27 - 7/29/16)

We headed towards Durango, CO to our next stop at Vallecito Lake Resort. On the way we got to see another arch, Wilson Arch. It was spectacular!! There was also Hole in the Rock, an Exotic Feeding Zoo. If we had known about that one, we would have been over to see it as it was only a short distance from Moab. Oh well, we can see it the next time. As we drove there were a number of fields of plants growing. It was difficult to tell what they were as we whizzed by. Then I saw a sign designating the area as the Anasazi Bean capital. Okay . . ....

Oct 5, 2009 - Leaving 5 Branches, Colorado

We left 5 Branches Camper Park today and headed to Eastern Colorado, actually going to Nebraska before Texas to visit family. Well, Tom and I haven't gotten very far. We left 5B about October 5. Since we were going to Omaha, we had to go south first to get north since Wolf Creek Pass was pretty snowed in at that point. We took HWY 17, and if none of you have done that, you should. It's absolutely gorgeous. After spending a "wonderful" night at Alamosa listening to trains (Tom was happy), we headed for I-25 and north. Got to Pueblo, about 45...
