Sep 25, 2010 - Sidetracked!!!
We decided to leave the Oregon coast and start South Mon Sept. 13. We were stopped at a traffic light and when we started out a big bang and no more moving. It turns out that we broke an axle. We called our warranty company for towing and they would tow our truck but not the 5th wheel. We called Good Sam roadside assistance and they would get both to the nearest Repair shop and when we found out how long repairs would take they would take the 5er to a park. On our way to the Ford dealer Good Sam called again and said that once they drop the...Jump to full entry
Feb 19, 2010 - Hello Again.....
Hello Again.... I can't believe two months have gone by without a word....was thinking that I had posted in January. Need I say that our time here is almost gone. We have been working so much that it has cut into our Day Trips and we haven't seen much more than this Resort and Mesa. However, the activities in this Resort are more than what the average person can keep up with. We took one day trip for our Anniversary to Tucson to see Claude's brother and wife, Dick & Millie. Had a very enjoyable day with them and just so happened that their...Jump to full entry
Dec 8, 2009 - Deck the Halls
I am amazed at how this resort has transformed itself with all the beautiful Christmas decorations, not just at corporate level but most of the residents here have gone "all out" with their Christmas decorations. When it's not too cold at night (and it has been cold) many people walk the park just to look at all the lights. It is a joyful place. At the resort level, every meeting room, office and halls are magnificent. I learned today that Cal-Am has three large storage warehouses full of decorations for their resorts. I still have trouble...Jump to full entry
Nov 22, 2009 - Work, work, work -- Play, play, play!
Well the last couple of weeks have been interesting. We're still trying to get acclimated. Claude hasn't worked much, I've worked a lot! But that will soon change. Claude was hired for salary to be a commissary driver, filling orders for the other parks and delivering them. He's not sure how many hours he will be working during the week, but will probably be Monday thru Friday. I'm working 25 hours for our site 4 days a week, off on Tuesdays, Saturday and Sunday. I enjoy being off on the weekends. We have been exploring the many...Jump to full entry
Nov 8, 2009 - Hello Mesa!
October 28th we started our trip, destination Mesa, AZ. Our short stay in Yuba City was filled daily with work, Doctor appointments, visiting family and friends, and more work. We were ready to hit the road when the time came. Our first travel day was uneventful and we spent the night in Fresno at Paul Everett's free parking lot. Thursday we stayed in Mojave, Friday in Indio, Saturday in Ehrenberg, AZ and arrived at our destination Sunday afternoon. We don't like to travel much more than 200-225 miles a day so that we're not exhausted when...Jump to full entry
Oct 1, 2009 - On The Road Again!
October 1,2009 After one last walk thru the park this morning we loaded up and said our Goodbys. With a little bit of sadness and a lot of anticipation we look forward to our next workamping experience. This has been a wonderful summer. We have made many new forever friends and are thankful to God for His leading us here to Clarkston. We look forward to next May when we will return to pick up friendships again with Bob & Melody, Leonard & Judy, Doran & Anna, Jacki and maybe Danny & Kathy. We know we'll see a lot of familiar faces as they...Jump to full entry
Aug 26, 2009 - Where has the time gone???
Gosh, it's been over a month since I've made entries to my travel journal. We have been pretty busy. A couple of weeks ago, our park hosted a "Build your own Taco" bar and that was lots of fun but lots of work too. This weekend we're having fresh watermelon and corn on the cob for our park guests. We think they will enjoy what we have planned. The park has been almost full every night. People that stop by for one night usually end up staying a few more nights because they like the park so well. My friend and workamper next door, Judy, has...Jump to full entry
Jul 22, 2009 - Short trip to Joseph, OR
Marc, Marla and family are vacationing in Joseph, Oregon on the Wallowa Lake again this summer, so Wednesday and Thursday on our days off, we decided to take a short trip down for a visit. We left Wednesday morning going south on Rte 129. The distance is 77 miles but it's a good 2 hour drive in a car. I had no desire to take the motorhome for just two days and after being over this stretch of highway, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. However, we have many guests in the park that have made that trip with a 40' motorhome towing a car...Jump to full entry
Jul 21, 2009 - Birthday and a Concert
Wow, July is almost over and our stay here in Clarkston is going by so fast. The park is looking so nice in spite of the awful hot weather we are having. Much hotter than normal, I understand. We are so fortunate to have our site furnished and able to run both air conditioners as well as work in air conditioning. Claude has to work in the heat sometimes but not for very long and the managers are good to not enforce the issue when it is over 100 degrees. The managers and fellow workampers had a little get-together in the Continental room for...Jump to full entry
Jul 10, 2009 - Day trip thru the Idaho countryside
With three days off this week, we decided to take one day for a short scenic trip thru the Idaho countryside. We decided to take 95 south out of Lewiston thru the Nez Perce Reservation thru small towns of Lapwai, Winchester and Craigmont. Lapwai (meaning the Land of Butterflies) is a very small community of Nez Perce and is the location of the tribal government headquarters. Winchester is a small community near Winchester Lake and State Park. We stopped at the Visitor's Center in town which boasted information 24/7.....but it was closed! We...Jump to full entry
Jul 5, 2009 - Friends pay us a visit
We were so happy to have a visit from our friends from Yuba City, Max & Lynn Bell and their Lasa Apso, Buster. We so enjoyed their visit. They spent five days here in the park and did several things while they were here. A trip to Pullman to the WSU creamery for some Cougar Gold Cheese, and a day trip thru Moscow, dinners at Roosters, the Clearwater Casino Buffet, and Paraiso Vallarta and several hot games of "Pegs and Jokers" (girls rule)! On the 4th, Max & Lynn took a jet boat tour up the Snake River and we had the fun of keeping Buster....Jump to full entry
Jun 25, 2009 - Claude takes a boat trip
Recently Claude and I were invited to take another jet boat tour up the Snake River all the way to the dam in Hell's Canyon. There are four major tour boat companies here in Clarkston all of whom are feeling the economic crunch. So when space is available on one of their tours, people like us who have the opportunity to promote their tours are given the opportunity to take the tour gratis. Such was the case with this trip on the Boogey Boat. This is a flat bottom boat, no sides, no roof, and you will get wet, drenching wet as they ride the...Jump to full entry
