May 22, 2011 - Turlock, CA - Heading North Through CA
(Ron Writing) We could have enjoyed staying awhile longer at Carrizo but the road north beckons. We left the campground after breakfast and headed northwest on Soda Lake Road to the north end of Carizzo Plain. As we drove along we saw at least 10 red tailed hawks perched on poles along the road. All along the way we had beautiful views of the Temblor Range across the valley. These interestingly sculpted mountains are formed from movements of the San Andreas Fault. Weren’t we brave spending May 21 right next to the biggest earthquake fault...

Apr 20, 2007 - Riverside, CA to Turlock, CA ~350 miles
I said my goodbye's to Lois at 8 AM and headed to I15, then North to I10, West to I5 and then North on I5 to Ca 99 and on to Turlock, CA. It rained all the way, very hard in places. The freeways around LA were so rough, one of my slide mirrors broke loose and fell to the floor. It didn't break, thankfully. However, when I stopped to get fuel, I dragged the tail end of the car hauler trailer going up the ramp into the station and it caught the wiring to the rear lights and shredded the harness in half.
