Jan 19, 2013 - We are off!!!
Well, we are finally on the road! After several days of delays and minor adjustments, and packing the motorhome for a seven month trip (not an easy task, I can assure you), we left Sonora Saturday (January 19, 2013) in our new 2013 Winnebago Sightseer 33C. We love our new home on wheels.

Feb 26, 2010 - Gold Country
Feb 25 64179 9:07 We are leaving Sacramento and are headed to Sonora. This is Gold County. First stop, find fuel. We do in Rancho Murrieta, unfortunately it is $3.09 a gallon and it takes just over 48 gallons to the tune of $150.00. Fuel mileage is only 8.24mpg. As we leave the valley we are in the foothills and can see the Sierra Nevada Mountains off in the distance. We have rolling hills, covered in green grass, scrubby trees and small rushing creeks. The sky is clear and you can see for miles. After turning onto SR49 we begin to climb...

Sep 20, 2009 - Coloumbia & Sonora
Saturday we toured our surrounding area with Bill & Sandy. We were camped just down the street from Old Towne Columbia State Park. Although this park is maintained by the State of California (and about to close down due to the State of California finances), it will still be open to walk around. There are many vendors in the old buildings and they will continue to operate. There was a festive atmosphere in the food and libation vendors and many people were trying their hand at panning for gold and shopping for trinkets and souvenirs. Then...

We set up and went to dinner and called it an early night. We attended Jim's ECV functions and left Sonora, California Monday morning. We traveled the 49er Highway from Sonora to Placerville, then headed to the 99 and then to Redding. We are at an rv park that...

Jun 27, 2007 - Yosemite - WOW!
We got up early this morning, both of us were thirsty. So I'm sure that means we're not drinking enough water during the day! We turned on the TV and watched all the news reports about the fires (plural) around Lake Tahoe. So we dug out the maps and discussed other options. Prior to this morning, we had decided we wouldn't go the 200 miles south to go to Yosemite, but in deciding to try to avoid the fires, we changed our mind. What a wonderful decision that was! Yosemite is AWESOME! Beautiful! Majestic! Inspiring! Oh my, it is just too...
