Apr 29, 2013 - Smith River, CA.
We traveled North on 101 about 95 miles from Blue Lake to Smith River, CA. about 3 miles South of the Oregon Border. We traveled through the Redwood National Park and along the coast, the road had more hills, valleys and curves than a Pretzel again the brakes got a good work out. We stopped along the way to take some pictures of the coast line and while passing through Elk Meadows 2 of the little buggers wanted to cross the road right in front of us, they thought better of it as I was bigger than they were. We arrived in Smith River at...

Jul 20, 2011 - South on the coast to California
Our longest ride in this part of the southern coastline was 245 miles from our RV Park just north of Coos Bay south along the coast road into California and back. It was another day of beautiful weather for riding, more scenic headlands, rocks, and surf. We stopped at several more small Oregon parks and a few small towns too. I especially liked Bandon by the Sea - that town I could stay and visit a lot longer! The Old Town district is a center for art galleries, shops, and dining spots. There is also a lovely beach area called Face Rock...

Jul 31, 2009 - On the way home
Day one: Monday, 27 July. Departed Smith River and headed for one of our resorts just south of Newport, OR. Upon our arrival, we found that the resorts description of wide large sites and wide interior roads were about 1/2 of what we needed to successfully get our rig into. After three unsuccessful tries at getting our rig parked (like trying to stuff three pounds of crap into a one pound bag!) we gave up and left(Scratch that resort from our favorites list!). Jo was able to find another resort a few miles north at Lincoln City, Oregon. The...

Jul 29, 2009 - Family reunion and Betty's Memorial
Day one:Thursday July 24th. Moved from Klamath, CA; about 40 miles north to get set up for the Family reunion and Betty's memorial. Jo's brothers daughter Pam was already at the campground so we set up the rig and awaited the other members of the family. By late that afternoon, all had arrived and we began discussing the set up for Betty's Memorial to be held the next day. Had a great family meeting around the campfire and caught up on what was new with each family. Jimmy our son and Heather our daughter drove in from Port Orchard, WA and...

Jul 1, 2007 - Smith River, California
R-We drove to Smith River, California today. When we got there the campground looked a little seedy as we drove in. We were both thinking did we really want to spend 5 nights here. However, our site was great. It was grassy like the grass in a well kept lawn-the kind that you would walk barefoot on. Guess that says something about first impressions. L- It seems as if Smith River is a fisherman destination - and largely in the winter. I can't figure out why one would go there in the summer. While the coast is beautiful, rocky Pacific Ocean,...
