Apr 18, 2012 - Silverstrand State Beach, Coronado Island

Per Gail and Bob there is rarely ever any fog in Carlsbad. Awoke to very heavy fog to the point Pepper and I were wet when we walked at 7:00a.m. Had a lovely brunch with breakfast casserole (cheese, eggs, hash browns), fruit and home made scones. Took a nice walk on the Carlsbad Beach. Stopped at a nearby Costco for some wine/lunch and then to Coronado Silverstrand Camp which is right on the ocean. Cool and a bit foggy. Took a lovely 10 mile return bike ride into Coronado along the naval amphibious center, along the golf course, under the...

Apr 7, 2012 - San Diego

Destination # 83: San Diego, California Mileage: 80 miles (from Hemet, CA) Arrive: Saturday, April 7, 2012 Depart: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 • Saturday, April 7  Another easy drive today, this time to San Diego. We are staying in the Santa Fe RV Resort and arrive in plenty of time to take a drive into La Jolla, one of the “must do’s” while we are here. * Note to self: In the future, try to avoid parks located right next to a busy interstate highway with no sound break provisions (just saying …..). Otherwise the park is very nice with one of...

Mar 11, 2012 - San Diego Last day

We've been having such a great time in San Diego that we didn't want this day to come. It's our last day here in this beautiful town. The suburb we have been staying in is called Santee. Since We like walking around neighborhoods to get the "feel" of a place the kids and I took a long walk. We loved looking at the different ways people did their landscaping. Some people had a beautiful green lawn while others had rocks instead of grass. We decided that even if the rock lawns were cool we prefer the soft green grass instead. We went by some...

Mar 10, 2012 - San Diego Ocean beach

Today we spent the day at ocean beach in San Diego. It was so much fun seeing the kids reaction to the soft soft sand and the waves. When we first got there they just stood there looking at the ocean in awe. One thing I've noticed is that the kids really get excited for the small things. A palm tree or the waves seem to be as exciting as seeing Shamu =) Anyway, well on the beach the kids got busy building sand castles and covering my feet and legs with sand and sea weed, just like at a spa Patric said. Then it was time to get wet! Wow the...

Mar 9, 2012 - San Diego and Sea world!

Even in San Diego the California weather is showing itself from its best side. Sunshine everywhere! Love it! Today we went to Sea World. It was so much fun. We got to see sea lion shows, Dolphin and Pilot whale shows and of course Shamu! We saw sharks, sea turtles, star fish, penguins, jelly fish, other funny looking fish and so much more. Everybody had their favorite. Patric loved the aquarium where he could sit forever just watching the fish swim by. He really loved the sea turtles. Julia loved the sea lions and Eric Shamu the killer...

Feb 9, 2012 - USS Midway

We went to the USS Midway. Drew has been a airplane & Warship buff for years, he has always loved to watch war movies, documentaries, etc. We took the transit(LRT) downtown, cost $5 for all day pass. it was better than letting Drew Drive all the way downtown & then find parking. We meet a wonderful older couple on the LRT, she must have been much younger than him. She was still pretty spry. they had travelled all over the world a few times, and dozens of cruise ships. Our tour on the Midway was, its just too much to explain. Its like you...
