Apr 28, 2006 - Good to be home...
Just a little note to let everyone know that I made it home safe and that everything is alright. Thank you to everyone for your responses and feedback. I hope you liked this site and I may be posting some more pics and movies on it in the near future. One last thing: when my phone was ripped off I lost everyone's numbers. If you all could please write me back with those numbers I would appreciate it. I'll be opening a new site soon for our Italy trip so watch for another email asking you to accept and invite to that one as well. We're...

Apr 26, 2006 - Paso Robles to Gilroy, CA
Today we traveled up highway 101 from Paso Robles to Gilroy. Gilroy is about 60-70 miles southeast of San Francisco. The trip up from Paso Robles wasn't long and we got into the Garlic Farm RV Park in the early afternoon. Instead of goofing off, we saddled up and drove over to the tiny town of San Juan Bautista, about 20 miles or so from Gilroy. We visited the San Juan Bautista state historical park and mission, which are located adjoining one another. The state historical park is a collection of old buildings, a stable, hotel, etc. from...

Apr 7, 2006 - We made it to King City
I was worried that we wouldn't have internet service at the San Lorenzo County Park but have no fear. Our Verizon internet card works just perfect. The drive from Pismo Beach wasn't more than 100 miles or so but the spring breakers are everywhere on the beach so we knew we should go inland for the weekend. Good choice. We are in a very nice full hook-up park for less than 1/2 of what we have been paying since we got to California and with the another jump in diesel prices we really needed a break. We also needed a break from all the running...

Mar 28, 2006 - Down a Country Road
We told you last time about our new GPS and how it led us to Coalinga. This time we'll tell you how the GPS led us AWAY from Coalinga! First of all, though, do you know where Coalinga got its name? One of our regular readers, Allen Leggett, told us that the community used to be a railroad refueling center, back when coal was the fuel. There were two "coaling stations," Coaling A and Coaling B. When it came time to name the town officially, someone saw the "Coaling A" sign and came up with Coalinga. When Allen told us that story we weren't...

Feb 12, 2006 - OK, OK, we're leaving, alright already
Hello, Well I understand the last update notice did not reach many folks. Well, now you'll have two to read through. And yes, by the time you read this, we will be on our way to Buenos Aires (BA) in Argentina. As many of you have said, about time! Yes, we had a blast in the snow, we've enjoyed the sun in Santa Cruz, but now the bigger adventure begins. This week has been incredibly busy - we'll spare you all the details, but it was about the only time that you pause to think - hmm, just going to work would be much easier than this. But...

Nov 7, 2005 - Cruising in the South Pacific
Well, we completed the first leg of our journey. We arrived in LA yesterday right on schedule. Usually we complain about air travel, but I want to tell you about a wonderful experience - at least as wonderful as it can get when flying. First of all, both of our flights were on time, the service was fine, they even fed us some edible food - certainly nothing gourmet, but when you start your day at 5 AM you're pretty hungry by the time you're somewhere over Mississippi! But the best part of our trip started before we even left the ground. As...

May 7, 2005 - Banjo's by the River!
Yikes!!! We happened upon our first dud! We had made reservations at this next park in Carmel but they only accept cash so we didn't pay a deposit ahead of time...Lucky thing! The road we traveled to get to our next destination took us through a mountain range with sharp winding roads and 10% grade. It was a pretty exciting road as we rumbled down the mountain right into Carmel Valley. As we approached the property we kept seeing signs letting us know that we were "on the right track". The 1st sign read "RV Park 1 mile ahead". The 2nd sign,...

Aug 18, 2004 - Santa Barbara, California
Mon 16/8 Hot Did my good turn for the day! Went out for a fag when I got up, and the wee irish girl from Seattle was stood outside the Hostel... She had just arrived after being stalked in Seattle, had problems with Amtrak on the way to SF, and finally arrived to find the Hostel was full for tonight, so we sweet talked the guy on Reception, and she used my bed to get some kip - I know what it's like travelling all night - (mind you - I book ahead!), so I'm feeling very virtuous! Just heading off to Santa Barbara - 9hrs - not too many on the...

Jun 15, 2002 - Carmel
The condo we traded for is AWESOME! Not 1 block to "the" ocean, as we had thought, but 1 block to "Ocean" the main street in Carmel! We are actually about 8 short blocks from "the" ocean -- but spent several hours there today -- the weather was incredible! We are right in the thick of things. On Mission St. in a darling condo over top of shops. Definitely an "inner city" experience -- even in Carmel. We share the courtyard with a restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch only -- the fan on the roof, right by our bedroom starts at...
