Apr 14, 2013 - Point Reyes

Days 39-41 of The Big Trip There was no way we could travel north from Fremont without paying a bridge toll. Well, we could, by driving way east and then back, but that didn't make sense. Another 80-mile day took us from Fremont to Petaluma, where we parked at a Coast Guard training facility. I've made a discovery that some stores, in California, charge a fee if you don't use your own bags. Sprouts gave a credit when I did. Keeps one guessing, but I'd better get in the habit of remembering to take shopping bags with me to the grocery store....

Jul 24, 2012 - Sonoma County

Today we are doing a tour of Sonoma County. Our tour guide claims there are more grapes in Sonoma County than in Napa – don’t know that for sure, but there are a lot of grapes. First we stopped at a family owned farm. They had all kinds of jams, jellies, syrup, etc. They also had yummy three-berry tarts – we had one there and bought another to take home for later. Next we went to Korbel Champagne Cellars. It was a beautiful place and David had several tastes of different champagne. We drove through the country side and we saw a lot of dairy...

Jun 22, 2012 - Sonoma

May 22, 2012 - Cheese Factory

We visited the awesome "Cheese Factory" of Rouge et Noir today and sampled some of their award winning cheeses. We watched the cheese-makers producing the cheese. Marin French Cheese Company is the oldest cheese manufacturer in the US. They have produced hand-crafted Artisan soft-ripened cheese since 1865. Rouge et Noir cheeses are similar to French and European varieties but reflect the characteristics...

Aug 21, 2011 - Cindy, Noelle and family

We left the windmills and the Sacramento River delta on Sunday morning to make the 2 hour drive to Petaluma in Marin County, north of San Francisco. After setting up at the nearby KOA campground (pleasant surprise now nice it was), we drove the 10 minutes to the house and were greeted by Cindy’s husband of two years, Charles Little—a tall, handsome retired teacher with a fun sense of humor. Shortly, Cindy arrived with Noelle, 3 ½ year old Atticus, and 2 month old Maia. Noelle seems very much in her element as a mother—just decided she won’t...
