Jun 21, 2011 - Medicine Day In San Francisco
Having a hard time getting anyone to check out the rolling turd. The smell is not quite as bad but is still prominent. Missy and I headed into two hours of San Francisco traffic to get to the MS infusion center. The staff was nice and Missy got right in. I went down to have a bagel on the corner and then took a nice walk. I can say if I lived in San Francisco, which would never happen, I would be in great shape. The hills can't even be explained or shot on camera. They are huge and the steepest I've ever seen. I loved the architecture and...

Jun 20, 2011 - Alfred Hitchcocks Bodega Bay !
We headed 30 miles North to visit Bodega Bay. The place is just like the movie and we had a great Fish and Chips lunch at the Tides Inn where the actual Hitchcock movie the Birds was filmed. The drive was nice and there were great views of the Pacific. We returned to a very smelly bus and I think I need to take it in for service. We have had a septic odor problem since we bought this thing and I think something has finally cracked. The bus smells just like a port a johnny. It is unlivable and Missy has her MS meds tomorrow so there is no...

Jun 19, 2011 - Napa Valley Stinks !! (Fathers Day)
What a disappointment Napa was nothing like we expected. The vineyards are nice but the town was a dump with a real low income part as we approached. We also saw fire trucks racing for a vineyard that was a blaze. Sonoma was much nicer and the town square was more like we envisioned it to be. We had a terrible lunch at Maya. The service was bad and the food was worse. I'm getting tired of the California attitudes. The people are all kind of snotty and everyone is out there... We tried to go to a barbecue place for dinner but the person that...

Jun 18, 2011 - To San Francisco, CA
We got up at 8:30 and started preparing the bus for the 160 mile trip North to San Francisco. Since the liberals are so concerned about the green space there are no RV parks that can accommodate our gas guzzling moving house. The couple of parks within 15 miles stay booked from the conservatives that still want to see some of the cool sites San Fran has to offer. So we headed to Petaluma, CA. It is about 30 miles north of San Fransisco but it is a great Northern Cali town and it is in between Napa Valley and the San Fran city limits. The RV...

Apr 25, 2011 - Check out new blog!
Our new blog is called STILLHOWLYN on Blogspot, a Google blogging site, which is very "user friendly" and interacts easily with my photos on Picasa and Picasa Web Albums. It also allows me to occasionally get away from strictly travel-related entries as we gather with family for the next couple of months, or as fuel costs keep us longer in one location. You can leave messages or comments and be a follower or subscribe to posts, if you like (I like if you do!). It's always encouraging to know someone reads your blurbs once in awhile! I have...

Dec 13, 2010 - 'Tis the Season!
Yes, the holiday season arrived right on schedule, but somehow my calendar got turned back or maybe fast forwarded! But it's hard to be Scrooge-ish very long with so much going on with the family and around town here in Petaluma. There was Norm's 44th BD celebration on the 29th, much too soon after Thanksgiving. He had a choice of dinner selections, coq au vin or mushroom risotto, chose the former which we prepared and delivered with all the trimmings. Oh, and we enjoyed too! New Elk's Lodge friends, Phyllis and Bruce, who live here in...

Dec 1, 2010 - Family for the Holidays!
Just wanted to check in and drop off a few paragraphs to let y'all know we've been back in the Bay Area of San Francisco since the middle of November when we first arrived in Half Moon Bay to celebrate (Terri and Clint's) Liliana's first birthday. We had a perfect parking spot for the motorhome right in front of their house with an electric hookup to power us through the cold nights. There was a big party at the local Round Table Pizza parlor with all the families gathered from near and far. Liliana seemed to know she was the center of...

Sep 9, 2010 - Thursday, Day 23
Today was spent taking walks around the park with the dogs - catching up laundry - cleaning and organizing the RV in preparation for the next big leg of our trip. Beautiful and very relaxing day. Cathy got to or site about 4 pm and wanted to go to....the OUTLET mall. So being a good parent, I agreed to go! Rick decided to stay back with the dogs. My big purchase was a "triple lasagne pan" that I'd been eyeing but didn't want to pay shipping - same price, no shipping expense - unless you add up all of the fuel from SCarolina to California!!...

Sep 8, 2010 - Wednesday, Day 22
We hadn't decided whether to stay 1 or 2 nights at Manchester Beach on the Pacific, but when we woke up today, the decision was made FOR us by Mother Nature. It was so foggy that it sounded like rain dripping off the trees onto the RV. We looked outside and could barely see and the weather report called for cold and rain all day. So we opted to head up the coast rather than take the "road less travelled" as we had on the prior day. I took Lewis & Miles for a quick walk and then started to head for the beach with them - believe it or not the...

Aug 7, 2010 - Petaluma Farmer's Market
After a BIG day in San Francisco, we slept in with the cool weather in the 50's and headed to downtown Petaluma and the Farmer's Market. The market was GREAT! Lots of fresh veggies, olive oils, bread and even tie-dyed T-shirts (they are still wearing them in CA!). We bought some great lemon scented olive oil and then some veggies--lettuce, tomatoes, cherries and corn. We got there early because the good stuff was going fast. We try to control ourselves and only buy for a few days to keep it fresh in our small refrigerator. Tomorrow we will...

Aug 5, 2010 - Hit the Road to SF
We drove about 220 miles today to Petaluma, California to begin our stay in the Napa wine region and visit San Francisco. To get there we drove thru Oakland on the Interstate 580. The road was good and at times the traffic was not a problem. In a few spots the local drivers thought we only need 20 feet to move into for a spot in a turn lane. But, it was a good trip. We saw thousands of acres of olive trees--what a sight! The temperature driving thru Oakland was 57 degrees! It was in the high 60's in Petaluma--what a change from the past few...

Jul 16, 2010 - Next Stop, San Francisco Campsite
Could not wait to leave and head on to San Francisco. Basically, a driving day, we encountered lots of traffic around the city so we did not arrive in Petaluma (north of SF) until after 3pm. We were happy to be back at a nice campground. This one is a huge resort and it was completely booked for the weekend. Luckily we had made reservations in advance. Very cool weather in the 70s during the day and down to the 50s at night. We relaxed, had dinner, did laundry, and Bobby listened to Karoke. Karen
