Mar 16, 2013 - Stelitta & Clara

Prior to us leaving for Glendale to visit Stelitta & Clara (Catholic sisters and Sisters in real life and are in their 90s) who we have known for over 24 years, we had coffee and muffins with Julie, a friend of ours. It was great seeing her and getting caught up on things. We stopped for lunch with Stelitta and Clara, they as usual went all to have a tasty lunch for us. We had a great time, it had been to long since we last saw them, we had a great time, it was to short.

Past U.C.L.A, , Beverley Hills High, Sunset Strip( where all the rockers from LA hung out in the 70s, and still do, Comedy Clubs, and where all the current young stars and pretty people hang out. I'm not pretty ,young or wealthy enough to get in and jo wouldn't go without me. We parked and walk along Hollywood Blvd. Saw a lot of the stars on Walk of Fame and stopped in to Graumans Chinese Theatre. Saw old stars hand and footprints. We then took a tour of Hollywood stars homes in the...

Jan 3, 2013 - Rose Bowl trip

The post parade float viewing was as awesome as the parade. Getting up close to all the floats gave you a deep appreciation for all the work and dedication that went into the creation of each one. The detail is impossible to explain, such pain-staking work. If you can imagine individually placing little beans, seeds, cranberries, etc., each whole flower is placed on the float individually and cut pieces of flowers, leaves, etc. are all glued on in very, very small sections. We were told that the City of Sierra Madre float cost...

Jan 2, 2013 - The Parade

We were up at 5 and on the bus at 6. There was a a huge bus rodeo to get them all in a parking lot downtown that had trees planted in triangular curbing. It was just 37 degrees so we all looked like Umpa Lumpas. There are seven staff couples so 14 Fantasy RV people in bright blue coats and hats. They get in place from where the bus is parked to the stands where we'll sit. On every outing we look for the blue and follow to the next one until we've reached our destination. It's a great system. We had our own section of bleachers. They were...

WOW!!! What a Day!!! The parade in person was FANTASTIC!!! Everyone should put this on your bucket list. I've uploaded 25 pictures here and will add more each day until I get them all on here. Too tired to do any more tonight. I can't say enough good things about Fantasy Tours. They by far exceeded all our expectations for this trip. Would book another tour with them any where, any time.

I will send more blogs later with more travel experiences. I want to send this one first for those of you who will be watching the parade so you can see "OUR" masterpiece float. Friday, December 28, 2012 – At 7:30 am, we boarded the bus at the Valencia RV Park and headed for the warehouse that houses the float we are going to work on. The town of Azusa is a good hours drive from...

Dec 31, 2012 - Rose Bowl trip

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE. The music, food and fellowship was great tonight. The hat I created for Larry won "most original" in the "crazy hat" contest. Thank you, Ralph, for wearing it in the hat parade. Poor Larry has gotten sick from getting his feet soaking wet in the rain on Saturday when we went to help decorate the Sierra Madre float. Hope the sun is out for the parade, but it is supposed to be 39 degrees when we board to buses. Too darn cold! However, still can't wait for it to be here.

Dec 31, 2012 - Bands & Horses

I had never been to a marching band concert that was the magnitude of what we went to yesterday. One example was the Lincoln HS band from Sioux Falls, SD. A large number were scholar students, they had accumulated over 10,000 hours of community service. Twenty five percent were scholar athletes. They were so good it made you want shout Hallelujah! They have a video on Utube where they clean the snow off the football field in 2 minutes so they can practice. It 's amazing. They were just one band and there were seven, including two time...

Dec 30, 2012 - A Trip to Rose Bowl Central

Breakfast was from 6:30 to 7:30 this morning. We were on the bus by 7:45. Our destination was the Rose Bowl stadium. In the parking lot were float tents set up with scaffolding around the top perimeter that the crowds of people walked on taking thousands of pictures. I was among that crowd of photo snapping tourists and it was fabulous! On to the souvenir tents where a T-shirt was just $30, cash only. There was everything imagine able with the Rose Bowl Logo on it. These were accompanied by hundreds of Wisconsin and Stanford logo items. The...

Dec 30, 2012 - Rose Bowl trip

What another fabulous day! We went to where a few of the Commercially sponsored floats were being worked on. The viewing of the floats was from a catwalk around the perimeter of the building. The cars and a few other floats were in another tent and you could walk close to them. After we left the float barns, we traveled down the parade route on Colorado Blvd. and got to see where our bleacher section was located. People will start camping out on Colorado Blvd. tomorrow in order to get a good viewing site. Too cold for that as far as I'm...
