May 7, 2008 - Alpenlite Rally
We are in Hemet for our Alpenlite SouthWest Regional Rally that our chapter is hosting. We arrived yesterday at Golden Village Palms and socialized with our group. The weather was great and the Resort is beautiful. Our chapter went to dinner together at a Mexican restaurant and we settled into one of the three jacuzzis after dinner. The next few days will be filled with group meals, socials, golf, group games and lots of fun organized by our chapter.

Today we went to Church with Bev & John and the McLarens. We then went out for lunch with Bev, John, Dionne, Claudia and John's sister Sharon from Calgary. After lunch we sat by the pool and just relaxed and then went back over to Luke & Lisa's for supper. What a great weekend.

Feb 8, 2008 - Catching up with family and friends relative to our California trip.
Did you know that a Roadrunner is a real bird? Well – I didn’t – I thought it was a cartoon character! We have taken several pictures of these little birds running around the campground here at Palm Desert. As far as we can tell there are two of them – male and female. We caught them playing whoopee today! We are close to half way through our winter trip and just now figuring out how to work this Journal thing. We have been to Sacramento, San Benito near Hollister CA, Redlands CA, Sun City CA and are now in Palm Desert CA. Our friends Dale...

Feb 6, 2008 - Palm Springs TT Preserve
Day 25 Feb. 5 We are now at Palm Springs TT Preserve in Palm Desert. It is a beautiful sunny day. Palm trees and more people. The campground is booked with over 400 campsites. Like a little city of RV’s. Everyone is fine in our group. We took the girls for a walk this morning as our usual routine. There is a large undeveloped sandlot really close to our site so that is where we went with them. I took some sunrise pictures from our site and while at the lot to give you a feel for where we are. Friends Ron and Kathy are a few rows over from...

Jan 2, 2008 - Our First Hot Air Balloon Ride
Darlene and I had an awesome opportunity to help a rver at our park to fly in his hot air balloon by helping him get it ready to fly and to help put it up afterwards. He and a few other rvers are in for a big rally this weekend to be held down the road about 2 miles at the Fantasy Springs Casino. 75 different balloons will be in town for this yearly event. Not sure we will make the event as Mary and Rosie, Mary's daughter in law, and Rosie's twin girls, Kelsey and Katie, are in a fast pitch tournament this weeked and we hope the weather...

Dec 2, 2007 - November 2007
On Sunday, November 4 we moved out of the house and into "Howhee" so we could finish cleaning out the house. We stayed at St. Vrain State Park near Longmont until Tuesday, November 13, when we finally started officially full-timing and headed for the Albuquerque, New Mexico area again. We have made a decision to travel only 200-250 miles a day when possible, so the trip to Albuquerque took 2 days. We spent a night at a campground at the summit of Raton Pass. It was cold up there at 7,000 feet elevation. We didn't waste any time getting on...

Nov 3, 2007 - TTN Palm Springs in Palm Desert, CA
We left Las Vegas in the morning and headed South on I-15. A Picture had to be taken of the worlds largest thermometer in Baker, CA. Baker is on the edge of the Mojave Desert sporting this humongous thermometer next to the Bob's Big Boy restaurant. Many of you know the story about the book "Roadside Americana" given to Dave at his retirement luncheon, this thermometer is in the book. As with the other's we try like the dickens to get a picture of the items in the book when we're traveling. On this trip we tried to outrun the "Santa...

Apr 29, 2006 - Palm Desert, Alpenlites
We came down to Palm Desert this last Monday. The RV resort is very nice, the pool and Jacuzzi are open 24 hours a day, and the sites are lush green grass and concrete pads. We are here for a regional Alpenlite (brand of our trailer) gathering that officially started on Wednesday. The chapter we belong to was in charge of parking which means we led people to their assigned sites. So Larry spent most of the day on his bicycle and possibly lost a pound or two. It is pretty impressive to be with 97 other rigs of the same brand. Sure gives you...
