Sep 14, 2012 - Just another day

A day to sleep in, catch up on laundry, clean the fifth wheel, contact local friends, and do the necessary mundane chores life on the road requires. Another chance to grill out and then pack up the grill until our next stop. It is nice to have clean sheets again....

Sep 13, 2012 - On The Road Again - One more chorus

We got up rather early for us, and had a quick breakfast of cereal with fresh local peaches. Then a quick walk around the campground, got our fifth wheel ready to leave, and watched the area disappear in our rear view mirror. Maggie took us on a little side trip. She was probably testing us, but then performed marvelously. It was not a long ride on highway 99 from Arcada, just south of Trinidad, to Redding on highway 5, but was rather eventful. It was raining again this morning and I just hung out while Carolyn did laundry. It finally started to clear up in late morning and by 1:00, the skies were partly cloudy with big fluffy clouds crawling across the sky. We need groceries, fuel and propane, so we headed into town. We were trying to hurry and get ready, because it was cold and we didn’t want to get wet as we were packing up. As we got ready to go, we had to wait on the motor home in front of us. The owners of the park had had us pull in and park and then had a motor home pull in front of us and park so we couldn’t get our truck backed up to the front of the 5th wheel. We finally headed down the road and as we went around the corner, we...

Nov 1, 2007 - The new chapter starts in Yreka, California

A few years back we found a prayer card stuck in a Missalette in a tiny church in Washington State. It was a prayer for travelers, and invoked such noted Heavenly Helpers as St. Christopher, patron of travelers, and St. Raphael the Archangel, as well as the Almighty Himself. The prayer asks for a safe journey and favorable weather. Since we were on the way to Alaska at the time we thought that was appropriate. We have prayed that prayer every traveling day since, and we credit that with some of our excellent results. Recent example: we set...
