There were a few sore heads & iffy tummies this morning but everyone except Adam managed a breakfast of Chorizo & eggs. Lee & Adam picked up their quad bikes which they had rented for the day, then Mike arrived in his jeep with Jan & new dog Marley. Jan’s brother Jim also came with them in his pick-up. BJ had to leave about noon because she had a surprise birthday appointment with her daughter. Not long after she left (in my rental car) the Rylands arrived. Oct 11, 2013 - San Diego to Ocotillo Wells
We hadn’t done any packing yesterday because it was so late when we picked up the motor-home, so it all had to be done this morning. We all got up early & worked hard, the only disaster being when a can of Coke fell out of the fridge & it exploded over everything. We were ready to leave about 9:00am with Neil leading the way in my car with Vivian & David. They stopped off in Ramona & picked up David's friend Adam Sampson so David drove out with him. Mar 13, 2008 - Split Mountain & Up Fish Creek (without Paddle)!
Though today in quite hot and windy, we decide a drive to the Split Mountain/Fish Creek area of Anza Borrego Desert State Park is in order. From Borrego Springs we head southeast to highway 78, then east to Ocotillo Wells, a popular off-road State vehicular recreation area. At Split Mountain Road heading south about 5 miles is a right turn into Fish Creek Wash, just before the gypsum being mined at road's end.
