Jun 3, 2010 - Enjoying California

I have been so bad in keeping this up-to-date. We are now in Morgan Hill, CA. So much has happened. We both loved Death Valley. Such alien and beautiful formations. We went to Bad Water Basin, the Devil's Golfcourse. We drove Artist's Drive - beautiful colors on the hillsides. We took the Jeep down 20 mule team canyon and drove to Scotty's Castle. We didn't get to do Titus Canyon - we will do that on our next visit - maybe as we head down to southern CA for the winter. We stopped to visit our friend Nienke in Bakersfield. We then had a...

May 9, 2010 - Morgan Hill CA

Here we are, just south of San Jose or just a little more south of San Francisco. About 70 miles. Our plans are to stay here for about 2 weeks. Our sit has 30 amps elect, water but no sewer. O well, I'll just have to do the Mexican dump. The Internet and cell phone work great and we have a nice spot and not to far from shopping. What more could we ask for.

Off to Alaska Again

Apr 22, 2010 - A short drive from Morgan Hill to Pebble Beach

We arrived here in Morgan Hill at the Thousand Trails Preserve on Sunday the 18th of April. The park is about 5 miles out of Morgan Hill to the west back in the hills. Nice area with lots of horse ranches. Granddaughters Angela and Rebecca would love driving around in this area. We drove over to the Monterey Peninsula and visited the town of Monterey and walked around Cannery Row down by Monterey Bay. Lots of shops to wander through and they have the big aquarium at the end of Cannery Row. We didn't visit the aquarium but locals say it is...

Apr 11, 2010 - Morgan Hill

Bear got in an early morning romp with puppy Sadie before the rains came about 9 AM and it rained all day. We went over to Don and Cathy’s RV and helped them plan their route as they are taking 4 months and traveling through Oregon, Washington, then over to Yellowstone, Cody and Moab then into Canada. Even though it rained we walked Bear frequently and I need to find a pair of rain boots and remember to always bring my rain pants on trips as I accumulated quite a pile of wet shoes, socks and pants by the end of the day.

Scott got up early to go shooting at Coyote Valley Sporting Clay and Bear and I walked around the RV Park looking for small dogs for her to play with. We met Sadie, a 5 month Queensland Heeler and they had a great romp together. After lunch we further explored Morgan Hill, visited a quilt store, bought pies at Marie Calendars for tonight’s potluck and shopped at a surprisingly upscale Wal-Mart Superstore.

Up early, Bear couldn’t wait to start the 3 hour drive to Morgan Hill. We arrived at noon, the last rig to pull into the 26 spaces reserved at Coyote Valley RV Park, site of the 2010 West Coast Titanium Rally. Scott attended the 3 PM ‘My 10 Best Camping Tips’ seminar while Bear and Donna enjoyed downtime at our site. On trips Scott likes to visit local shotgun clubs so we drove to Coyote Valley Sporting Clays which we found was a little bit of paradise in a country setting. Along the one mile long dirt road were free grazing cattle and...

Nov 20, 2009 - Visiting in San Jose on the Way to Oregon

Thursday we left Bakersfield and headed to San Jose to visit the Murray's on our way to Oregon. We decided to say in Morgan Hill (South of San Jose) a RV Park that sounded good. The Park has a lot of full timers in trailers that are setup on permanent blocks and could be rentals or sold. It is a very large park but probably is typical in these large urban areas. Friday Cousin Bob and Barbara visited us and went out to dinner with us. We were able to catch up on all the doings of both families. We are enjoying seeing our loved ones. Now, on...

Pacific Coast 2009

Jun 3, 2009 - Morgan Hill

Morgan Hill is surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills and it was great to just relax for a few days. We took a couple of trips through the hills to the coast, had a puncture repaired in the truck tyre, (2nd puncture in the same tyre) and kept the local population of red squirrels, (they appeared more ginger than red), fed up on cherries!

May 21, 2009 - Morgan Hill, Ca TT

Drove north for about 50 miles to Morgan Hill TT Park just south of San Jose for a few days to catch up on shopping before heading back towards Colorado. Woke up one morning to several wild turkeys in front of the coach, saw my first Stellar Jay in Ca. and another black tailed deer which I had first seen in San Benito. Visited the produce stand on Tennant which was great with friends Joe and Jerry D'Angelo. Stocked up from Trader Joe's as there are none in Colorado and of course the old standby Walmart in Gilroy.

Apr 2, 2009 - Morgan Hill TT Preserve

On our way from Bakersfield to Morgan Hill. We had to take Hwy 152 over from I5 to Hwy 101. On the other side of the pass across to Hwy. 101 we decided to stop at the Casa De Fruta since we had passed it by a few times in the past. Glad we stopped at least once. It was an interesting stop and a good break for us all. The girls got to run around a bit and afterward we meaning Rita and I went in and checked out some of their shops. It could be easily identified as a tourist trap. The prices were on the quite high level. Quality of course was...
