Feb 25, 2008 - Los Angeles

We headed into LA today in an attempt to find Charlie’s cousin Neil. Hunting wasn’t that good although we did gain some information and solicited some other help. Hopefully the volunteer will come up with something for us. All those privacy laws/regulations just don’t make it easy to locate someone when you don’t know where they are at! Thus we made a big swing in , around and through LA. 200 miles plus and came up with very little. Traffic, goes all day here with ourselves getting stuck in backups, couple that were 5 miles plus. Did use...

Feb 20, 2008 - On to California

We resumed our westward travel heading for Los Angeles. Before crossing into CA we stopped at the Flying J to fuel up. The place was so busy, it took 1 ½ hour before we continued on our way. Spent the night at the Oxbox BLM land south of Palo Verte, continuing on to Menifee, CA east of the LA area. On the way is where we have actually seen our first winter snow. Up on the mountain tops of course.

Feb 3, 2008 - Wilderness Lakes Preserve

Picked up another one of those real estate presentations to get us some free RV stays. This one is for a membership to a company that owns a bunch of RV resorts throughout the country. They gave us a $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, three nights at their resort here in Menifee, and 30 days free at any of their other resorts. (They've got some in Texas, near San Antonio, so we'll probably try to use some days there). What the heck! Every little bit helps. And these places are nice.

Jan 31, 2008 - Touring Menifee area

Our campground hosts gave us a list of things to see in the area, so we took off to discover today. We drove to the Budweiser Clydesdale Farm on a bumpy dirt road. As we drove up, the youngsters nearest the road looked up and came slowly towards the fence. They were lovely and gentle young giants who stretched their necks over the fence to be touched. Our next stop was an equine nursery where we could see many pregnant horses from the road. They were mostly back from the road so we couldn't get a close look at them, but they all had big...

Jan 19, 2008 - Menifee Lakes and SD Animal Park

We move 75 miles to Menifee Lakes...should have been a shorter trip but we got lost. The shortcut road we took went through a few towns and we were detoured a few times around road construction...the first time, when we initially got lost, we and all the rest of the traffic got detoured around a high school just as school was getting out. We wandered in what we hoped was the right general direction and eventually got to where we think we should have been (later found out we were right) only to get lost again driving down a road that was on...

Nov 15, 2005 - Soledad & Wilderness Lakes 1000 Trails Nov 15-21, 2005

Soledad Canyon and Wilderness Lakes We spent a few nights each in the Soledad Canyon and Wilderness Lakes 1000 Trails Parks (November 14 - 21, 2005). Most of this time was spent car shopping for a replacement tow vehicle. Both parks are large -- with open and shaded sites, tennis courts, horseshoes, shuffle board, two pools and two lodges.
