Mar 18, 2013 - Getty Villa and Will Rogers State Park

Alanna and Tom took us to Getty Villa, located in Malibu, it used to house a lot of the museum pieces that are now in the New Getty Museum along I-405 in Los Angeles. The Getty Villa Museum has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD, including the Lansdowne Heracles and the Victorious Youth are arranged by themes including Gods and Goddesses, Dionysos and the Theater, and Stories of the Trojan War. NOTE As it turns out Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did not create the first computer let alone a laptop...

Nov 21, 2011 - Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

The rain stopped and the sun was out this morningwith just a little bit of fog. The ride down the coast was beautiful. I needed to stop to make a conference call so we stopped near Carpenteria at a local park. I made the call, but it turned out I had the wrong day. It's tomorrow. Better early than late. The only problem with the parking lot at the park was that is was very narrow and and had a tight tight turn-around space so I had to unhook the car. We drove out of the lot and parked infront of a security gate to reload the car. As soon as...

Jun 10, 2011 - Malibu, CA

We woke up to an overcast day in San Diego and headed 165 miles North to Malibu, CA. The drive on Hwy 5 was very congested but once we hit the Pacific Coast Hwy it was beautiful. The cliffs and the homes built into them are spectacular. We arrived at the Malibu RV park about 3:30. This is the most fantastic RV park yet. It is also very rare. There is no way today the environmentalist and hotty toddy Malibu sheik would allow this place to sit perched on a cliff above the Pacific. It has been here since the early 70's so it's grandfathered...

May 11, 2011 - and we're OFF!!

WE’RE OFF! Today the first day of our trip. Our first 3 nights we will be staying not too far from home. We traveled to Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. We took the 10 to the 101 to the 23 at Thousand Oaks. The plan was to stop at Trader Joes but we couldn’t find it and the 23 looked from the map to be a straight shot to Malibu. It was NOT. The road was narrow and windy and a sign at the start said not recommended for trailers. Oh well, a few broken dishes. The campground was beautiful. In a canyon of old oaks and sycamores. Lots of...

Mar 13, 2011 - Oceanside, Malibu

We arrived in Oceanside CA on February 27 just before check-in time. It did not take very long to drive from Hemet, about an hour! Our site at the Paradise RV Resort was right across from the office, pool and hot tub, which was very convenient. It is by far the cleanest park we've ever been in. The staff is always raking and cleaning the RV sites. Two guys own it and their sons run it. The staff are all very young and friendly. In the office area they have a TV with leather chairs, pool table and shuffleboard table, very nice. At the back...

Feb 23, 2011 - MALIBU $$$$$$$

Apr 15, 2010 - Tax Day 'Time To Move On'

Today we head north on the PCH. Looking forward to driving along the coast, but not looking forward to traffic. Will fill you in after we arrive in our next camp. We have done 100 miles of the PCH and found a campsite just across the road from the beach. And just on the north side of Malibu. This place is really off the chart. First we saw them making a movie. Hope it was 2 and a half men. Then some of the biggest houses on the hill sides. Went to the beach and lost the keys to the jeep. Walked the whole camp and back tracked the beach. Bev...

Apr 4, 2010 - Malibu with a rental car

On the Sunday we rented a car for 3 days. The fellow who picked us up to take us to the car rental place showed us a couple of star homes - as we were driving up the highway I pointed out a fancy house to Malcolm and the driver said that was Cher's house, and he also pointed out the big empty lot where Matthew McConaughey was about to build a new house on. After we got back to the motorhome I Googled a few more movie-star homes in Malibu, and as we drove out to the west to more beaches away from town, we saw the fronts (well, really only...

Apr 3, 2010 - Malibu by foot

On our first full day at Malibu we spend most of our time relaxing enjoying the view. We did walk down the hill and across the highway to walk on the beach, then we walked along the highway a ways to the local seafood restaurant. We got take-out fish and chips, then walked all the way back along the highway and up the roads into our campsite again. Both the slopes around the highway and beaches, and the gardens within the RV park, are all covered with flowers, so there were a lot to look at. We had been warned about nasty snakes in the...

Mar 18, 2009 - Michael Landon Park

Donna and I were on our drive around the area, went down Topanga Canyon one more time and then Malibu, our thought was a trip to Long Beach to see the Queen Mary, but, driving past the coast in Malibu and taking a few pictures as we went along, we happened to come across the MICHAEL LANDON park, we made what we thought was going to be a quick stop, but after seeing the flowers and the bluffs we stayed for about a hour, thought we would allow the sidewalk to show us a new path. MICHAEL LANDON is interred in the Hillside Memorial Park...

Feb 16, 2009 - Back To Malibu....

Well, we finished our meetings in San Diego. Had a great session with the People's Coop team in Ocean Beach. Met with Jim our accountant and then cruised up to Malibu for two weeks of demos and training. Everyday is booked solid. Malibu RV is a very special place. Where else can you stay in your RV a quarter of a mile from Sher, all these rich people and the ocean. The picture is a view down from the hills at the Grizz which is backed up against Pacific Coast Highway. The views from our desks are amazing.

The views from the coach...
