May 6, 2012 - Lodi, CA

We found out yesterday that the blimp we saw a few days ago was searching for the impact points of a meteor that crashed in the area last week. We arrived in Lodi (just south of Sacramento) Friday afternoon. We stay at this campground whenever we visit Bev and Verle. The dogs love the huge fenced-in grassy dog run that it offers. The weather has been warm but windy. We spent all day Saturday at Bev and Verle’s house. They have two large dogs, and we worried how all five would get along, but it all worked out better than we expected. Tyler...

We went to the Jelly Belly plant today and it was interesting. It's amazing how they can make all those wonderful flavors and they really are good. The weather was perfect. We did not go to any wineries of the Bud Light Brewery. Too much distance between all of the sights. Going to heard down to Boron, CA tomorrow and find an RV Part for the night or two. Bye for now Kathy

Nov 12, 2011 - Sandhill Cranes

Saturday: It rained during the night and the morning dawned slightly overcast, but the cloud cover burned off and by noon the sun was shining unobstructed. We packed up and disconnected, then headed out for a day of exploring the delta. Our campground on Brannon Island is surrounded by levees that keep the floodwaters out (as long as they don’t break) and the farmland on the island protected. A lot of corn is raised here and hawks and owls of all varieties abound. Our first sighting was a big red tailed hawk. The raptors like to sit on the...

Oct 24, 2011 - Lodi, California

We are spending our last night on the road for this trip in the Flag City RV Park in Lodi, California. We are no about 65 miles from home and we are spending this last day getting the motorhome cleaned on the inside, emptying the holding tanks, and doing the final laundry before we get home. We will leave tomorrow around 1000 and that should allow us to miss the morning rush across the Altamont Pass and the school dismissal around 1430. This will all us parking the RV next to house without having to dodge heavy traffic on Pine Valley as we...

Jun 7, 2011 - Jessie's Grove Winery

We got going on the road around 10. Check out and hooking up the toad was a breeze. And off down the hills we went. We sure miss our exhaust brake from the truck. The only way we can slow down on the hills is put it in low or use the brake. We did OK – we are just spoiled. From 41 we took 156 toward 99 and then turned north. 99 is a good divided freeway – just a lot of traffic. We stopped in Madera for gas. 38 gallons for $150. It stopped at $75 twice so we said that was enough. Our stopping place tonight is a Winery that is part of the...

Apr 12, 2011 - Stockton Delta/KOA Campground & Marina

Today we traveled down US-101 as far as the Bay area (Novato,Vallejo,Fairfield) and then jumped onto CA-12 to Lodi, Ca. On the way we spent a few hours visiting with a Exxon Retiree that I worked in Alaska with. The last time we say him was when we were in this area on our way to a the De-Commissioning of the USS Ogden about 4 years ago. The KOA we are at is HUGE, it doesn't officially open untill next Monday, so we appear to be the only rig her (in the short term area) there are several outfits in the section near the Marina. When we leave...

Aug 14, 2010 - Stuck in Lodi...

We loved our time in Corning, California… After a beautiful sunset our first night, the next day was even better…. Corning is for sure the olive capital of the US… Now I don’t know that for sure but if you look at the cans or jars of olives in your cupboard, I’ll bet they are from Corning if they are not shipped in from a Greece or other foreign countries…. I know that when I came home and read the labels on my Lindsey olives, they were packed in Corning… Our first stop of the morning was at the Olive Hut which is an Olive Factory where we...

Mar 23, 2010 - Lodi CA ..Flag City RV Resort

Flag City RV Resort... A much needed overnight "reststop" on our trek north on the California I-5. A great new economical park with concrete pull-throughs. An easy set-up for an overniter! Unfortunatelly.... the rough sections over the "Grape-Vine", north of Los Angles, shook a rear storage cabinet door open and an item "fell out" and lodged its self behind our entertainment slideout when Sandy opened the slide-outs.. Another repair job! I guess it had to happen sooner or later. We almost completed the whole trip without any slide-out...

Aug 28, 2009 - Last week before travel

We have spent the week in Lodi so we are near our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren while Ed completes his last week before retiring and we begin our traveling phase of life. I visited friends during the first part of the week and have had our grandchildren at the trailer the end of the week. We are staying in the Flag City RV Park in Lodi for the week. Tuesday morning we signed the final escrow papers for the sale of our house. WOO HOO. It has been a long 90 day escrow and we are glad it is over. The check was deposited to our account...

Jun 7, 2009 - Lodi, CA

We are in Lodi, California, which is about 25 miles south of Bill’s sister, Beverly. Sorry that I haven’t made any entries since Thursday. We are currently in our first “off-the-grid” campground – the only place here with WIFI is in the office, which has limited hours. This campground is right next to a major interstate, and also next to a truck stop, so I’m astounded that there isn’t any WIFI at our site. Lodi is the original home of A&W Root Beer. It is now primarily a wine-growing area, but there are also strawberries and cherries grown...
