Aug 14, 2012 - My Bad

I can't believe it!! I forgot to publish my last journal entry for our trip. My Bad!!! We got home Thursday Aug 2nd, almost two weeks ago. Sorry. Anyway, we spent a nice week in Quincy with Jack, Michele, Marlin and Aurora. The weather was great and we kept very busy with the grandkids. From Quincy, we drove over to Auburn to see my sister Lori and Peter. We had a nice family dinner with Lori's two boys and their two boys, (Lori's grandsons). Leaving Auburn, we drove down to Carmichael to visit with Terry and Jennifer. They used to live in...

Jun 27, 2012 - Lake Forest to Las Vegas

June 27--We started our trip with a rather unusual lunch--catering trucks in nearby Irvine. These trucks have become very popular and "roach coach" does not apply, it's way more gourmet than that. It's like having a "food court" right in a parking lot. We met up with some friends and all experienced a different dish. That is except for Charlie and me, we both had Lobsta rolls. After lunch Janet and I went and got the bus and headed out to Las Vegas, NV. You can't imagine how hot is was crossing the Mojave Desert, 108 degrees going through...

No pictures this time. Hi to all of you who followed Mary and I and took the time to write back to us your thoughts and memories. We looked forward to hearing from you. Your emails were thoughtful and meant a lot to us as we traveled around the United States. We are back home now, having arrived back in Lake Forest 2 days ago on the 25th of October. When we left Nashville We basically drove straight back west on interstates 40 and 10. My last post to you our faithful readers was from Oklahoma City, OK. From there on we didn't stop to sight...

Adoption Network Law Center Adoption Network Law Center - This bond exists in children raised in well-adjusted families, but it is even stronger for brothers and sisters from dysfunctional families. They learn very early to depend on and cooperate with each other to cope with their common problems.

ANLC - Adoption Network
In early childhood, siblings are constant companions and playmates. Through games and conversations with each other, they learn to interact with the larger community. During adolescence, once-close siblings...

Adoption Network Law Center Adoption Network Law Center - Adoption is a permanent proposition that requires a lifelong commitment by everyone involved. It is extremely important that you adopt for the right reasons. If you are looking to adoption to save a marriage, provide an heir, because all your friends have babies, or because of external pressures (such as your parents), this might not be the right time for adoption.

Jul 23, 2010 - Starting off from Lake Forest, California

Welcome to our 1st journal posting! After weeks of waiting looking at our vacation countdown clock we finally blasted off Wednesday morning about 10AM headed north to our first overnight camp at Boulder Creek Campground in historic Lone Pine, California. When we arrived it was 102 degrees so that called for a dip in the campground pool to cool off. Many of you I’m sure remember as little kids getting up Saturday mornings and turning on the black and white family TV and tuning in to Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, or the Long...

Feb 11, 2010 - Shuttle Launch

Dear Friends, I have always wanted to see a shuttle launch, especially a night launch. It wasn't exactly on my "bucket list", but every time I saw it on the evening news, I wanted to witness it first hand. A few months ago my brother-in-law Gary traveled to Orlando and saw a launch and came home beaming with enthusiasm about the experience. And some great photos too. That did it!! When NASA put tickets on sale for the February launch, we went on line to NASA.gov, entered the virtual waiting room, and got selected to purchase tickets. Our...

Dec 29, 2009 - California Day 16

California Trip -- Day 16 Breakfast started with Bill and I sharing a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. We then headed for Brian and Emily's house. We spent some time with James. Brian had started a project of making a cover for around the outdoor air conditioning unit. The cover was a two panel lattice work. Bill and Brian completed the project. Bill and I decided to take a ride on the motorcycles. We headed for a ride through Trabuco Canyon. The ride was spectacular through a winding tree-lined road that wound its way around the canyon....we...

Dec 28, 2009 - California Day 15

California Trip -- Day 15 We arose and decided to have breakfast at the "Corner Bakery". I was familiar with this place from eating at the bakery while in Chicago. We had Anaheim Scrambler and a Banana Muffin. We then headed to work on Brian and Emily's pation landscaping. We made our first stop at Lowe's and picked up a variety of plants. We then took them to the houses to share with the kids and decide on other options for plants. Brian, Bill and I went to Home Depot to look at other plants and picked out more to fill in the planting...

Dec 27, 2009 - California Day 14

California Trip -- Day 14 We went to Brian and Emily's house today to finish up the electrical work on the security light. But first, we all decided to go to the Orange County Marketplace which is a huge swap meet or another name for a flea market. Bill and I found many bargains and bought things that we really didn't need but the trip was fun and it was great to spend the time with Brian and Emily and of course, James. They left early but we stayed a little longer to do some shopping. We went to Del Taco for lunch before heading to their...
