Sep 29, 2018 - Winner for Album of the Year is...

Originally had thought today might be my down day but then w/ the traffic on Wednesday and Thursday was so bad thought it made more sense to do it yesterday and hope that today the traffic wouldn’t be quite as challenging. It wasn’t as bad but was still by no means smooth sailing. Only thing I wanted to do for sure here in LA was the Grammy Museum which is what I did today. Got there around 10:30. A lot of the same elements as the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland but not as extensive and covers all genres of music. One thing that...

Sep 28, 2018 - Everybody Needs A Break

Not counting the 5 days at Thanksgiving when I’ll be at Bonnie and Greg’s place, today is the halfway point of the trip. I knew I was going to take a “down” day around this time, so since I didn’t have anything specifically planned for here, today was it. Did laundry, got an oil change (I’ve driven over 8,000 miles so far), vacuumed out my van (still finding pieces of glass), made a Walmart run and caught up on a number of other things I’ve been meaning to do for a couple of weeks. Overall a fairly productive day. Steps 4815/519381

Sep 27, 2018 - Welcome to LA!

Traffic is really becoming a drag here in CA. I carved out 3 days for LA but didn’t really have anything planned. Been here a couple of times before and felt like I’ve done most of the touristy stuff. However, felt I should do something so planned on going up to Hollywood and taking a city sightseeing tour. Looked at the GPS around 8:30 to get an idea of traffic and it was saying an hour to go the 15 miles. Wasn’t sure if I was up to that. Did some things over the next hour or so and checked a couple more times but at 9:30 it was still an...

Sep 26, 2018 - Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum

Only thing on the agenda for today was a stop at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley. I arrived when the museum opened at 10. I’ve been to several of the presidential museums over the past couple of years and have typically spent 4-5 hours at each. Almost every time I was forced to move, on either due to the need to be some place that same day, or because the museum closed. Today I did not have those restrictions so I ended up staying until 4:30, a half hour before the museum closed. This stuff just seems to...

Aug 15, 2008 - I love L.A!

Ha aha ha ha ha! No I don't! It's a big, noisy, dirty city. But it's where most of my family lives, so until the Navy gets Tom's paperwork together, this is where we'll be. At least we're not too far from the beach. But I'm anxious to hit the road and start the real adventure! The longer we stay, the more hurried we'll be. Tom is anxious to see Joni and Ethan. I don't blame him. I'm anxious to see them- and Julie's family as well. Brianne and Preston will probably be gone by the time I get there, and that will be a big disappointment! Maybe...
