Got a few samples, but did not try some of the flavors pictured. Reagen liked jelly belly so much, there is practically a Reagen museum here.

Sep 30, 2012 - San Francisco/Bike Ride over the Golden Gate Bridge

Drove an hour to Jack London Square in Oakland since Harry knew a good place to park the big truck. While we were waiting on our ferry to San Francisco, we stopped in the bar where Jack London wrote "Call of the Wild". The tiny building settled on one end in an earthquake and the bar is still tilted. Lots of cool memorabilia on the walls too. Had to have a beer in this historic place even if it was 1/2 hour before lunch. We arrived at Fisherman's Wharf to pick up our bicycles. I did not like the 1st part through town in traffic, but then it...

Sep 29, 2012 - Another New Microwave

Harry needed his day to catch up and do errands so no trips today. Our new microwave quit after only a few days use so I helped him install another new one today too. Also went back to Vacaville for things he needed and he set up our satellite dish. Now that we are back in the lower 48 and not on cable, we can finally use it again! Grilled burgers for dinner and hit the sack early since Harry was still on who knows what time zone!

Sep 28, 2012 - Vacaville and Harry home late

Decided to check out local community of Vacaville for a visit to Old Navy and Walmart. Lots of places to wonder around and shop if I had come earlier. Even an outlet mall beside Sams and Walmart. My Tomtom kept me from getting lost and I found a new way to get back to base. The back way is through farm country so I felt like I was headed through cow pastures! I went to bed before Harry came back. He had FedX money for a cab in his budget and was not here till 1:30am. Good to have him back though no matter what time!

Sep 26, 2012 - Check out Travis AFB

Not anything big today, but checked out the base and stocked fridge and shelves from commissary. Went to Tickets and Tours to find ideas on outings here. Read some literature and found this base has a climbing gym and 12 paintball fields! Both Harrys would love that! Got some new magazines but mostly domestic and low key today. Have to catch my breath when Harry is gone.

Sep 25, 2012 - Harry to Work from Oakland

Very early morning since Harry had to catch a FedX flight out of Oakland, Ca, just south of San Francisco. We left about 4am! Lots of lanes for traffic on I-80, but not too much traffic. I was definitely not awake enough when the Tomtom started my trip home. Thought I was headed to San Francisco and away from where I wanted to go! I called Harry before he headed out and he assured me that was right and stayed on the phone till I was back on the interstate home (I-80). Another emergency averted as Harry says! Took about an hour each way and...

Sep 24, 2012 - To Travis AFB, Ca

Left Eureka early to pack up and travel south to Travis Air Force Base. Good place for Jackie to hang out while Harry heads back to FedX. Drove through some of the Redwood forest one more time on the way as the highway winds through part of it. Set up before dinner and Harry grilled chicken and we relaxed before an early bedtime...9:30. Very nice Famcamp on the base! Another blue sunny day in 80's. Great weather continues to follow us!

Sep 10, 2012 - Quick Update

Thanks to all of you who have written to inquire if we are all right because of no posts. We are doing GREAT! We are doing long overdue housekeeping things. Going to the commissary and base exchange here for necessary shopping (and definitely one of the nicest facilities we have seen in quite some time - fabulous)! Also a morning in the beauty salon getting all "caught up", haha! We were also getting ready for my brother Jeff's visit along with his girlfriend Robin. So that meant fixing meals ahead of time to allow us more quality time to...

Sep 1, 2012 - Hello California!

We knew we had a long haul today so we were underway shortly after 9:00 a.m. And what a drive it proved to be going through the highest point along I-5 just before leaving Oregon and the roads were exhausting. Jerry felt they were some of the most tiring roads he's experienced to date. The route was all ups and downs; slow going up-hill and then the steep grades and windy curves going down hill are just not fun (or aren't to me anyway). Plus visibility was pretty bad due to the fires in Idaho and Oregon and we could really see the affects...

Jun 19, 2011 - The Girl Goes Home and We Hit the Bottle

We traveled up to Travis AFB on Monday - a place I hadn't been since 1971 when Amanda as a 5 month old and I left for Guam on a military flight. The RV park is nicely laid out and in on base where the sounds of Reveille in the morning at 7 a.m. is really loud, but that's OK. The commissary and exchange are quite close which is nice to shop at since CA prices are REALLY high! There are a bunch of jack rabbits who live in a small bluff to our right. Madison loves to see them, and sometimes, they run right down the road of the RV park, but we...

Aug 23, 2010 - Travis AFB, California

We are cooling our heels at Travis AFB for a while. It is too hot to travel to Yosemite. We are going to stay here another week or so, and then decide whether to go to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. It is supposed to hit 100 here tomorrow so we are thinking of heading into San Francisco where it is a little cooler for the day.
