Dec 20, 2019 - Dixon Lake Campground, Escondido, CA

We enjoyed an easy drive into the San Diego area. Andy, Kayla, and Emerson live north of San Diego in the community of San Marcos. The adjoining town of Escondido has a nice city park called Dixon Lake. We have stayed here before. We stayed on site 21 with full hookups. The site is on a high ridge looking west and south. The views are amazing. And best of all the campground is just about 15 minutes from Andy, Kayla, and Emerson’s home. We spent 10 days and enjoyed Christmas and family time and especially spending time with Emerson! Andy and...

On our last weekend at Dixon Lake CG, Kayla, Andy and Wyatt joined us. They camped in their TAB in the site next to us. What fun!

Mar 29, 2014 - Safari Park Outing

Yesterday we took Justice and Liala to San Diego's Safari Park outside of Escondido. It was such a beautiful day and a great time for all of us. First on our visit was the Gorilla Trail where we got to see the young gorillas playing and the older gorilla lazily watching. Got a glimpse of Imani and infant but she was way in a corner nursing and my picture didn't come out well. However, on our way out of the park we took the Gorilla Trail again. Got a much closer look and a much better picture of both. In case you haven't heard of Imani in...

Feb 22, 2014 - San Diego Safari Park

After sleeping in (again), we decided to skip breakfast and head out to the Safari Park. It was about 40 minutes from the resort and it was already a nice day with clear skies and a little cloud cover. Perfect for pictures. On the drive over, we found out that there was a caravan safari where you could feed the giraffes. It said that it was approximately 4 hours long, so we decided to see if we would have time to do it. When we arrived, we found out that the caravan safari was actually only 2 hours long. After some thought, we decided to do...

Feb 2, 2011 - Wild Animal Park

The San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park has changed its name to "San Diego Zoo Safari Park". We enjoyed seeing the elephant's newest baby just born about a month ago. How cute it was. They had a tram that drove you through the wild animal fields where we saw such animals as Rinostous, Giraffes, bob cats, chimpanzee's, gorilla's and many others. We also got to see their bird show. That was the final event of the day at the park. Everyone was cold and tired so we headed back to David's and Clairetta's for the evening before retiring to our...

Jan 18, 2011 - BlueBird Rally in Quartezsite,AZ.

We went to Quartz Site in January with our newly bought Bluebird. Wasn't sure what to think of it at first, a whole lot of motorhomes parked out in the desert with no hook up or anything. We came to the Birds Nest, that is what they called the camp site with all the Bluebirds. We pulled into the the circle of it where they was all having a potluck. I got out to find out where we was to set up at and that was when we got surrounded by people telling us that we had the most famous Bluebird on the road. At the time I really didn't care I was...

Dec 22, 2010 - Southern California flooded roadways

Not for long however, when we reached the Mojave Desert we started to see sprinkles and it was evident that the area had recently seen heavy showers, as low areas of the road way were underwater and we had to slow appreciably for miles. Sections of the roadway in the vicinity of Victorville were eroded away which resulted in stop and go travel. When we hit I-15 leading into the long downhill into San Bernardino and Riverside areas, the rain came in downpours and darkness hit, resulting in nervous four lane freeway driving 70 mph+ almost all...
