Jun 21, 2019 - Corning, California

We arrived at the Corning RV Park around 5:00 today. We went out to dinner at Casa Ramos Mexican Restaurant. The food was very good. I had to get diesel and had to pay $3.93 per gallon. Welcome back to California with the highest gas prices that we had on our entire trip. It cost me $98.00 to fill-up the truck. We will be home tomorrow after two months on the road.

May 27, 2019 - On the Way to Oregon

After a very busy few days in Lancaster, Ca visiting Family & friends, we hit the road..destination...Crescent, Oregon. Our trip took us out highway 138 & Interstate 5, we expected lots of traffic which actually wasn't to bad. There was the usual dare devils that like to cut people off & the drivers that thought they were racing in the Indy 500. But we poked along & settled in at the Rolling Hills Casino (in Corning, Ca) for our first nights stay.

Apr 2, 2019 - The sunshine is fading....

Last night we went to sleep with the smell of orange blossoms coming through our window. Aww...it smelled so nice. We got underway this morning at 0815, with lots of other RVers at the Orange grove RV park. It is nice and sunny this morning, and it is about 62 degrees. But we think it might be the last day for wearing shorts as they are predicting rain by this afternoon. I pulled out our rain coats and hung them in the shower just in case.( Otherwise, if we needed them we would have to open the slide to retrieve them. Better to plan...

Jan 20, 2019 - Corning, CA - The RV Park at Rolling Hills

After two nights in Grants Pass we headed south on I-5 to The RV Park at Rolling Hills, Corning, CA. This park is basically an overnight park and we have done it every year of our winter trips. Corning has its start in 1882 when the railroad was extended to that point and was named after John Corning, a railroad official. It was officially incorporated in 1907 and is also known as "Olive City" because of the award winning olive products. It is located in Tehama County, CA about 100 north of Sacramento, CA.

Mar 27, 2018 - Day 2 of the journey

Well day 2 of the trip was actually better than day 1. The new GPS only fell off the dashboard once today, and we caught it. I think Spikes going to drill that bracket into the dashboard! We got on the road at 0800, cool and clear, and there was only minimal wind to deal with this morning. But we got delayed by two accidents. One was near Patterson where a small pick up truck fell off the 2nd level of a car carrier (a semi truck towing about a 6 car carrier) and landed on the first level of the carrier and started coming off onto the road,...

Jan 23, 2018 - Corning, CA - The RV Park at Rolling Hills

Stopped at Liquor Expo where prices have gone up at least $3.00 a bottle on most liquors. Pulled into RV Park, fueled before parking and then stayed hooked up for overnight. Fuel and RV camping fees have gone up considerably this year. RV rates are now $35.00 here. Fuel rates are all above $3.50/gallon. Looks to be an expensive trip.

Oct 24, 2016 - Heading Home

Oct 23-24 Today was departure day. We said ciao to Mike & Terrie after our three week hiatus in Vegas we were back on the highways & byways. As mentioned earlier, we have decided to take the #I-5 home rather than visiting the Tonapah, Carson City, Virginia City & Reno area. The crossing of the mountains is easier from the I-5 this late in the season. By 11am we were in Primm , passing Buffalo Bills & Whiskey Petes Casinos, an oasis in the desert. (: We are climbing from 2600 feet to 4730 feet to go through Mountain Pass. They couldn’t come...

Oct 18, 2016 - Corning CA

We left this morning around 10, and said good bye to the orange trees and the ants! It was a nice day for driving, and made it to Corning, staying at the Rolling Hills Casino. $28.00 for full hook ups, and Tuesdays, and Thursday's, if you are 50 and over the buffet was 50% off. They consider that a Sr discount. I got my first Sr discount!! We enjoyed a nice evenng out, and tomorrow is another driving day to Oregon. We are much cooler tonight, and I'm sure we are getting prepped for what we are in for at home. Soon we will be home!

Sep 4, 2016 - Rollings Hill Casino RV Park

The club outing effectively ended Saturday after a delicious dinner of Lasagna and the cleanup of the Rec. Room because everyone was leaving the campground Sunday morning. Marge and Ross were headed for the Rolling Hills Casino RV Park located just south of Corning, California and the others were headed in various points of the compass. It was only about 120 miles to the casino but the first 35 miles was pretty rough. My GPS took us west in Highway 12 and then turning north on Highway 113. The section of Highway 113 from Highway 20 to Dixon...

Aug 6, 2016 - Traveling

We are traveling today the day has not started out to good, first the spot mirror on the drivers side was looking at the sky when he went to check it was loose so he taped it, then one of the levelers does not want to come up. Al figured out what it was and we are on our way. Backing out of Curtis backyard is tight, very tight. Well Al got out of the yard without any problem coming off the driveway he backed into a brand new truck with the rear ladders (not paying attention to his wife who told him to stop). So there we were, called the...

Jul 14, 2016 - July 14 Thursday On Our Marq

We headed north on the I-5 to Corning, CA, 385 miles. We stopped at the Rolling Hills Casino RV Park for the night. We checked in at the Traveler's Clubhouse then parked in an open site - 26. All of their sites are pull-though and long enough so that we didn't even have to unhook the towed. The temperature was about 105 degrees. We were too tired to go to the casino. We ate in and prepared for the next day's travel. Marian

Apr 23, 2016 - What are slammers?

Underway this morning bright and early at 0815 as we have a long travel day ahead of us. Eight hours of driving for Spikey. Plus a fuel stop in Bakersfield. The weather is nice, about 60 degrees so we get to be in shorts again today. The roads today were pretty awful. Those transitions between the road and the bridges or overpasses are horrible. When the concrete is gone and you can see the rebar, that's bad. And of course all of us with 3 axels or more are limited to 55 mph and the slow lane which is full of chuck holes. Poor Spike was...
