We heard about a great campground high up in the mountains in Cobb Mountain, CA. We decided to make the drive today and check it out. Cobb Mountain is the tallest mountain in the Mayacamas Mountains of California. Its 4720+ feet main summit is located in Lake County, west of the town of Cobb. The campground in Cobb has monthly RV sites for only $395 per month. That is really cheap for California. The drive to see it was beautiful, but long and very narrow with lots of hairpin curves. We had a hard enough time in the car, and would never try...

Nov 5, 2007 - Upper Sonoma Valley

A trip inland from the redwoods and coast brought us to the Upper Sonoma Valley ... an area rich with vineyards and a much different topography. Lots of hills ... low mountains ... very dry ... not much vegetation ... fewer evergreens and more hardwoods. The campsite we decided on was virtually empty ... 200 sites ... half a dozen campers. We took a trip into Calistoga, which is at the north end of the Sonoma Valley. The area is famous for it's hot springs and spas. Yes ... we partook of the hot mineral pools ... couldn't pass on that....
