Carmel-By-The-Sea and Pebble Beach are synonymous with pristine coastal vistas, golf and elegant shopping venues. The 17 Mile Drive has several entrance gates and the fee to see how the rich and famous live and play is $9.50 per car. It is a really pretty drive, but the coastal fog sometimes makes it quite dismal and makes one wonder if it really is "THE" place to live! May 8, 2009 - Carmel By-The-Sea & Big Sur
Today we visited Carmel by the Sea for a quickie visit and then drove the 26 mile scenic drive to Big Sur. I can see why Clint Eastwood lives in Carmel, it is beautiful. The water is a gorgeous blue color and the beach is sandy and inviting. We didn't stay long because our main goal was the drive to Big Sur. We have seen some fantastic views of the Pacific, but this place takes the cake. :-) It was spectacular! We stopped along the way and had a nice picnic and just took in the beauty. Apr 4, 2009 - Big Sur is named correctly
What a day we have had. We left Santa Monica and headed up highway 1-ever turn is a picture post card. We made many stops along the way to stare in amazement and take a ton of pictures.What a beautiful coast line it is. We got to a spot just after big sur and decided to stop for lunch. I found a place called Rocky Point Restaurant on our gps. It sounded good so we stopped. Boy was I right ,it was fabulous.
