I guess "grounded" is an apt discription for what is going on. For those who read this who have not heard already, we are back in Arkansas due to some serious health concerns for me. After seeing my urologist and having a biopsy on my bladder, it was determined that the bladder was cancerous. The solution will be to completely remove the bladder. This surgery will happen on October 20, and after a week in the hospital I will be "grounded" for at least six weeks before being able to drive again. We are going to be parked at North Little Rock...

Oct 2, 2011 - Quick Trip to Arkansas

A Quick Trip Back to Arkansas It took eight days and over 2200 miles to get back to Little Rock. We left Sunriver, OR on Thursday a week ago. Sept. 22: The first night was spent in Winnemucca, NV, a trip of 359 miles. Stayed at Hi Desert RV Park. Sept. 23: Drove 337 miles to Tooele, UT. Spent the night on a Walmart parking lot. Sept. 24: Made it to Green River, UT, about 190 miles. Stayed at Shady Acres RV Park. Sept. 25: Beautiful drive today into western Colorado. I-70 is a civil engineering marvel as it follows the Colorado River...

May 31, 2008 - Plantation Agriculture State Park

Our last stop of the day was at the Plantation Agriculture State Park located in Scott, Arkansas. Here is some of what we learned during our visit: A cotton field has to be harvested 2-4 times during the season. This is because the cotton bolls do not all open at the same time. Slaves & early sharecroppers would drag a bag that was 7 1/2 to 9 feet in length behind them to place the picked cotton in. Special, smaller bags, were made for children who started picking cotton as early at 5 years of age. A full bag would hold 100 lbs and was...
