Nov 6, 2011 - more goodbyes....:(

More goodbyes.....I hate them, but it is the price you pay to live this lifestyle. Friday morning the weather was much better and the bedroom slide went back out. That was nice. We ran a few errands after breakfast and then over to Dardanelle to Bill and Kay's house for more games of ponytail and some delicious hamburger soup Kay had made for supper. It was yummy!!! The card games were not so nice though. I don't want to talk about that! Too soon it was time for hugs and goodbyes until next spring. We will miss you guys so much! Saturday...

Nov 3, 2011 - Windy, Windy, Windy

Last night was a first for us. The cold front came through and the wind was so strong we had to bring the bedroom slide in. I have read other blogs that the people always bring in the slides in a storm, but this was the first time we were afraid the slide cover was going to rip right off the slide. It was pretty tense till about 4:00am. That was when I finally dropped off to sleep. The wind was still howling all day today, so the bedroom slide is still in. It makes it a little crowded, but we can stand it for another night. Tuesday morning...

Oct 31, 2011 - Happy Halloween!!!!

Trick or Treat everyone!!! We had a beautiful day to travel the 134 miles south to Russellville. The trees were breathtaking! I believe the colors are prettier this year than ever before. It took us about 3 hours with road construction and one rest stop. Jackie drove Tommy and Lorene's car and pulled the boat, and I drove our motorhome, and Tommy drove theirs. Lorene rode part way with me. The roughest part was from Harrison to Top of the Mountain. If any of you have ever made that trip down Hiway 7, you know what I mean. We got to the...

Oct 4, 2011 - Final Stop On Our Way To The Rally!!

From Ivy's Cove RV Retreat - Russellville, AR Really hated to leave our home of the last three nights with the peace and tranquility of the Mississippi River at our doorstep and not to mention the absolutely gorgeous days we have had since arriving on Saturday. This park has my heart and for sure we WILL return to enjoy it as we criss-cross the highways and byways of this country! Our entire drive today was on Interstate 40......NOT my favorite by a long shot! The commercial truck traffic is the heaviest we have encountered; now twice on...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Sep 9, 2011 - Russellville, AR

We arrived in Russellville and got set up for a couple of nights. We have both been craving BBQ food so we went about eight miles up the road to Dewayne's in Dover (recommended by the campground owner). It was really good BBQ food. Tomorrow, we want to go to the AT&T store and do a grocery run to Wal-Mart. Our next stop should be Choudrant, LA at Dick's, where we'll get the a/c fixed. It's getting a little warmer as we head south but still very manageable with one compressor.

Oct 20, 2010 - Lake Dardanelle, AR

October 19-20, 2010 – Lake Dardanelle We drove from Oklahoma to Arkansas and decided to stop at Lake Dardanelle, a very large lake caused by the damming of the Arkansas River. Along the Arkansas, there is a series of dams, much like the other big rivers we have crossed during our trip. Arkansas had by far, the best Visitors’ Center of all the states we have been in thus far. Not only were there brochures for private vendors, but there was an Arkansas Adventure Guide book that contained a listing of all of the state parks, national parks,...

Sep 12, 2010 - Green grass and trees

After several days of wandering through the brown of the desert, we have returned to the land of green as in trees and grass. This occurred today as we crossed into Oklahoma. As we continued east into Arkansas, there was evidence of water as in flowing streams rather than dry stream beds. For several days, bridges crossed washes but now they cross creeks and rivers. We have crossed the country before, but never along this route so we were really tired of brown. Since departing from Klamath, CA, we have traveled 2236 miles, averaging 320...

West Coast 2010

Jul 11, 2010 - Amarillo, Texas to Russellville, Arkansas

Amarillo Texas to Russellville Arkansas 504 miles (total trip miles 5,752) We are on Route 40 traveling east, the road is flat and the scenery is boring. The highlight of my day was the cows playing King Of The Hill, the Leaning Water Tower, a route 66 attraction The Largest Cross in Texas and the lake that was the color of my grandsons chocolate milk with people in it. The drive through Oklahoma was more of the same, gas is cheap. The scenery changed for the better in Arkansas, the roads started to roll up & down and do a few turns, let’s...

Jun 22, 2010 - Trust Your Instincts

Trust your instincts Whether you call it the voice of the Holy Spirit or Women’s Instinct-Trust it! Today when trying to find a motel in Russellville, Arkansas, a motel manager made me very nervous. I can’t tell you for sure why I felt this way, but when he started questioning me, I chose to back away. He then insisted on keeping the info I filled out on the card and I refused. When he continued to try and get my info card from me, I started tearing it into pieces and quizzed him right back. “Why do you need more money? Why do you want all...

Oct 3, 2009 - Arkansas

Howdy from Arkansas! We got up early this a.m. and managed to make it all the way to Arkansas. We spent yesterday afternoon and evening in Nashville and we found it interesting and a little different. We loved walking around listening to the music and we learned a lot about the history when visiting the state museum. The people were very friendly. We had to laugh at a lady who was chastising a youngster (about 12) walking home from school and holding up his pants with one hand and carrying books with the other. We agreed with her that we...
