Oct 19, 2013 - Super Saturday

I woke up at 8:45 this morning to sunshine....YAY!!!! It was cool though. I think it was 53 degrees. Jackie was out walking in the park. He walked for 2 hours and 10 minutes. He didn't get to walk yesterday, so I'm sure that's why he walked the extra time today. Jackie had gotten up sometime earlier and made a trip to Taylor's store to get my favorite breakfast for me. I found it in my chair(in a carry-out container)....chocolate gravy and biscuits....and it was still warm and sooooo good. I didn't waste anytime eating it. I called my...

Oct 18, 2013 - Back in Arkansas

Today started out very cold.....at least for me. We got up about 7:15am and it was 40 degrees. After a quick breakfast, we got to work. I finished up with the last minute details inside while Jackie braved the cold to do the outside work. We were ready to pull off the site by 8:30. James came by to see us off and Richard was standing at the corner waving at us. We pulled behind the Clubhouse to hook the car up to the towbar and we were ready to roll. Maelene was working the guardshack so we got to say bye to her for the year. We stopped in...

Aug 22, 2013 - Russellville AR - Old Post Road COE Campground - Lake Dardanelle

Right now, we are waiting for the heatwave to break here in Russellville AR. It is HOT and very humid. No one is outside in the campground during the day. Even Bridget wants back into the air conditioned camper after being out for a while. In the camper, she can sit and watch the squirrels in comfort. Our site is right on the Arkansas River, so we can watch the tugboats pushing the barges when they go by. That doesn't happen very often, but at least we have some entertainment. The pictures show one of the tugboats pushing barges into the...

Retired at Last!

Jun 27, 2012 - Eastward Ho! (just doesn't sound the same as Westward Ho!)

We continued our trek East today, putting in an 8 hour drive through excruciating heat. Our front A/C still isn't working, so the kids spent most of the day on the back bed watching TV and trying to keep cool. Not much exciting to see along the drive. We wound up in Russellville, Texas and had dinner at Cracker Barrel.

May 25, 2012 - Corned Beef and Cabbage (a little late)

#44 5/25/2012 Today is kickback day. We washed the truck (and Ruth's car) in preparation for leaving in the morning for Branson (Trying to encourage the rain!) One of Ruth's kids brought her a cabbage. We had to go grocery shopping, so I talked her into buying a corned beef. She had never cooked one, so I got to do the cooking today. The hardest part was keeping her from turning the stove up all day long while I was simmering the meat. The meal turned out pretty good, everyone enjoyed it. Ruth is going to try it again sometime on her own....

May 24, 2012 - To Okmulgee, OK and back to Russellville

#43 5/24/2012 Today we traveled to Okmulgee, OK to see Ruth and Roger, Ruth and Henry went with us. Roger's daughter Monica and two of her kids, Luke and Alison came over while we were there to see us, that was a pleasant surprise. We had a great visit with everyone, had lunch at a really good barbeque place. It was a long drive, but worth the time to get to see everyone. I learned a lot from Roger about leather work. it was an ugly looking day, we thought it was going to rain all day, but no such luck! This is probably the driest part of...

May 23, 2012 - Relaxing in Russellville

#42 5/23/2012 Another chore day today. I also got to pick mulberries from Ruth's tree. I needed a ladder to get any more, or a jolly green giant to pull the branches down. At least I got one bag full for my smoothies! We relaxed the rest of the day and gave Ruth a day off and went to dinner tonight. Tomorrow we will head to Oklahoma for a short visit with Bob's cousin. No pictures today

Apr 24, 2012 - Russellville & State Parks

Sunday drove to Russellville left about 8.30am just over 2 hour journey. We went on the US7 scenic route which was lovely but narrow in parts steep & winding as well, when we came to several bridges we had to stop to let cars through as the RV nearly took the whole width of the bridge. Had a late breakfast then drove 15 miles to Mount Nebo State Park fantastic views where you could see the Arkansas River. We walked the Rim Trail which was 3.5 miles taking us nearly 2 hours as steep & rocky in parts, saw lizards, butterflies & a Ribbon Snake...

Apr 8, 2012 - Happy Easter !!!!

HE IS RISEN !!!!! Happy Easter to all of you!!!! I hope you have all had a blessed day.... It was so good to be back in Woodlawn Free Will Baptist Church this morning for worship. Lots of new faces to us, but we have been gone for 5 months so that is expected. We had 135 in attendance and the message from Bro Charles was wonderful. We have had a couple of nice quiet days to recover from the trip. It's a good thing because we are pretty busy this week, until we leave Friday morning. We met Bill and Kay for supper at Western Sizzlin' on...

Apr 5, 2012 - Back at the lake

We're home!!!!! No that's not entirely accurate. We are where home used to be. Home now is wherever we park our motorhome. For the last 4 months, home has been Haines City, FL. For the next 7 days, home will be at the lake. Confused yet???? Oh well, that is the life of a fulltime rv'r.... We left Birmingham this morning just as the sun was rising. That's mighty early folks!!!! We didn't sleep well at all last night due to being on the Walmart parking lot with all kinds of noises around us that we aren't used to hearing. Plus we were...
