Oct 29, 2017 - Hot Springs National Park

We had hard rain most of the night in Bowling Green. Had cleared up and was just cold when we got up. Cliff got his wish and we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I think he had the place scoped out the night before. It was tasty and we didn't have to eat until dinner. We drove south. Road were good and traffic was ok until we hit Nashville area. They had construction and a couple lanes were shut down so they were trying to squeeze about 5 lanes into one. We kind of skirted the city and kept on going. The roads are lines with trees on both...

Jun 28, 2009 - Up, Up the Mountain

On our final Thursday at our location in the Arkansas Mountains, with nothing planned for that day, we decided to take a ride over to Mt. Magazine State Park. It is the highest mountain in Arkansas and the highest peak between the Appalachian and the Rocky Mountains. It was a nice drive through the mountain countryside, past small farms, through small country towns. Passing through one small country town Linda Hingst spied a sign “Yorkies for Sale”. Most of you know that we had a Yorkie for many years and lost him to old age a couple of...

Jun 27, 2009 - Arkansas Travelers

We attempted to allot our time here in Arkansas is such a way so, we could see the sights we wanted to see and also have time to relax and enjoy days of nothing. There is a lot to see and this was difficult. We spent a day looking around Hot Springs and seeing the sights there. We visited Garvan Gardens and adjacent Anthony Chapel. These beautiful wooded botanical gardens were donated to the University of Arkansas Architectural Landscaping Department by Verna Cook Garvan. The Anthony Chapel is a mostly glass chapel supported by a...

Jun 19, 2009 - Off and Running

After 4 months at Lily’s by the Bay RV Park in Hitchcock, we are on our way. We postponed our trip out west until, next year because our friends Rudy and Linda Hingst needed to remain in the area due to Linda experiencing health problems. We all decided to do a shorter trip to the Kentucky-Tennessee area, planning to winter in southern Alabama. Her doctors have released her so we are all happy to be on our way. This is an exciting time for us because we’ve planned and talked about it, but it was always in the future, now it is here and we...

Jun 14, 2009 - Good To Be On The Move Again

From Charlton Recreation Area – Ouachita National Forest – Royal, AR A whole seven days now since we departed and I last posted in the journal. As I stated, we had an overnight stay in Greenwood, LA; just outside of Shreveport and we did visit two casinos. I know I made a joke about the buffets, but the host at the RV Park suggested that we try the lunch buffet at the Horseshoe Casino, stating it was her favorite. We took the advice and sure glad we did. I would recommend it to anyone finding themselves in Shreveport and looking for a good...
