Feb 13, 2019 - A miserable week

Rain, rain, and more rain here..... We have had days and days of rain..... So much rain that we had to get a truck to come and pump out our black tank because the ground is so saturated that the septic tank is full. This is going to continue to be a problem if we don't get some drier weather. As a result of the cold temps and rainy damp weather, Jackie caught a nasty cold and now I have it.....UGH. I knew it was going to happen but it's so miserable. Jackie has been doing quite a bit of driving for the school and even in the rain he loves...

Feb 5, 2019 - An early morning....

Jackie got a text from the school at 5:30am this morning. One of the drivers has the flu and they need him to drive. So he got ready and left and I snuggled back under the covers for a few minutes and promptly went back to sleep. My alarm was set to go off at 6:30 because we planned to go to the monthly telephone retirees breakfast at 8:00. When my alarm went off, I just turned it off and went back to sleep again. I must have remembered why my alarm was set at some point because at 7:30 I sat up in bed and thought "Oh no, I'll never get...

Feb 4, 2019 - We're home and A NEW DOOR has opened

I didn't post again on the way home because we came all the way home on Tuesday. It was very cold but not quite dark when we got here so after turning on the propane and electricity we were warm inside after an hour or so. We had to unload everything freezable from the car so it was miserable doing that and we had totes stacked in the floor overnight. But we were at home and the next day we got busy unpacking and putting away stuff, which we are still doing as we speak. We had a really cold night on Thursday and even leaving the faucets...

Dec 13, 2018 - On our way to Texas

I know it's been a long time since I posted but it's been busy and I've been sick twice and a lot has happened. It's late and I don't have enough time to tell you everything but I'll give you a condensed version. The weather has been horrible except for maybe 10 days scattered out over the last 2 months. We've had more rain and cold temps than I can hardly stand. Many, many nights of 30 degree or lower temps. We used a tank of propane a week for 2 weeks. That wasn't cheap so we purchased an infrared heater for the bedroom and we've mostly...

Oct 20, 2018 - 60 days to Texas

It's a quiet Saturday morning so I better make use of the time to update you all on what's happening around here. First of all, it's not summer here any longer. Two days after my last post the weather took a complete turn from the 80's and 90's to the 60's and 50's in the space of about 4 days. Since then we have had the fireplace on almost constantly and the furnace too. We've had several damp, rainy, foggy nasty days. Two days it never got out of the 40's.....I'm longing for south Texas for sure. The second prescription for my cough seems...

Oct 9, 2018 - More news

I know it's been a while since my last post, but it's been good and bad. The weather has turned summertime again. The temps have hovered in the low 90's for the most part and that is pretty warm for this area in October. My sickness got better for a while and I'm sure glad as Clyde and Ann came down and stayed a couple of days at the lake. As soon as they had their trailer backed into their site we whisked them off to Colton's to eat. Tommy and Lorene met us there too. Then we all went to Tommy and Lorene's house for games and more good...

Sep 26, 2018 - Still sick

Well folks, once again I've caught whatever Jackie had. By Sunday morning I could hardly raise my head off the pillow. Needless to say, I wasn't able to go to church. So Jackie went and I stayed in bed and watched the live feed on my phone. I stayed in bed all day and Monday morning I called my doctor and went in that afternoon. I couldn't get the magic steroid shot that Jackie got because of my diabetes. So I was sent home with a prescription for my cough and told to take a Zyrtec once a day and a Benadryl to help me sleep. Tuesday I felt...

Sep 22, 2018 - A Fun Week

It's Saturday morning and we are back in our "condo on wheels" in Arkansas but I'll get you caught up on the events of last week. It was pretty hectic. Wednesday morning Jackie had a runny nose and scratchy throat that was worse than on Tuesday, so he decided to go to the Mercy Urgent Care clinic that we have used before when we were in Branson. They gave him a steroid shot and a prescription for a nasal spray. The doctor said he didn't have any infection and therefore he wasn't contagious. That was good news because usually when he has...

Sep 14, 2018 - 1 more sleep

Another birthday has come and almost gone and it has been one of the best ever. I am so blessed to have so many friends and family near and far that are so kind to send me birthday greetings and wishes. I have been busy all day just trying to answer them all. This old woman's cup is running over tonight for sure. I also got to spend time with both my kids. Sharon and Todd stopped by for a short while on their way to Prairie Grove for her aunt's visitation. Then we went to Bill and Christie's for supper and a short game of hand, knee, and...

Sep 13, 2018 - 2 more sleeps

Today was lots better for me than yesterday. Sunshine all day and not a cloud in the sky. Our thoughts and prayers are definitely with those people on the east coast though as they deal with "Florence". We have many friends in the Carolinas and Tennessee that will surely be involved in it. I almost had a jammers day today, but this evening I got dressed and we went up to Bill and Christie's for supper. Christie is cooking supper tomorrow night since it's my birthday so we treated them to pizza tonight. Yes tomorrow is the big day!!! Number...

Sep 12, 2018 - Sad Day.....Happy Day

Yesterday was a sad day as we remembered the horror of 9/11 seventeen years ago. I remember exactly where I was when the news of the attack was released. I was getting ready for work when my co-worker called me and asked if I had the TV on. I immediately turned on the Today show and watched for hours. I called my boss and told him I just couldn't leave the house. My mind just couldn't believe what I was seeing. And for days afterwards I was glued to the news on every channel. Today started out as a sad day also. We received word that my...

Sep 11, 2018 - A wonderful weekend....

As I posted last time, Friday night was a very long night. Jackie slept like a baby, but every time he moved I was awake as I was terrified he would do something that would make his arm start bleeding. But he is just fine. I followed all the instructions they gave us at the clinic and all went well. We spent lots of time with Chuck and Sheila over the weekend as well as with Dan and Sandy. We convinced them to stay in Russellville and hang out with us too. Saturday afternoon we all met at Brown's Catfish along with Tommy and Lorene and...
