Jun 3, 2018 - Precious Memories

This morning Jackie and I got up early and drove to Greenland for decoration at the cemetery where many of my family members are buried. Just 6 weeks ago we were there for my sister-in-laws funeral. At that time, there was a problem with the gravesite where she was supposed to be laid to rest beside my brother Dean. As a result she was put in another section of the cemetery and my brother was supposed to be moved beside her along with the double headstone they had placed at my brother's grave when he passed away 19 years ago. When we...

May 15, 2018 - The times...they are a changing!!!!

Well, the trailer arrived and we are thrilled with it. There were a few little problems like when they prepared it for travel at the lot, they didn't get one of the kitchen drawers in the island fastened and it rubbed against one of the cabinet doors. The dealership has ordered a new door. Also had a couple of water leaks but nothing serious and a phone call to Great Escapes was all it took to get it fixed. Luckily we have an RV service within a couple of miles that came right out and fixed us up. We are all moved in finally, and we have so...

Apr 23, 2018 - Fun and friends

We had a lot of fun with friends while spending our 4 days and nights in Branson at Treasure Lake. The weather was cool but bearable during the day but downright cold at night. Our friends Sherry and Leon came down from Washington, MO, on Thursday and Stan and Bonnie came over from Kimberling City and we all met at Danna's for supper. Lots of catching up to do since we hadn't seen each other in such a long time. Afterwards we all went to the Lodge at Treasure Lake to play some cards. That's how we roll when we are in Branson. Friday morning...

Apr 16, 2018 - Lots going on here

Just to begin with, it's COLD here!!!! We certainly haven't had to use the air conditioners since we got here. But the heat pumps sure are getting a workout. It was 35 degrees here when I crawled out of bed at 7:45 am today. Brrrrr Well, there is a lot to tell you about. We were supposed to go to Springdale last Wednesday, but plans were changed and we went to Gassville, AR instead. As you all know we have been trying to sell our motorhome for the last several months. We have had several inquiries but no really interested buyers. So we have...

Apr 10, 2018 - Back in Arkansas

We made it back to Pottsville safe and sound. But boy is it cold here!!!!! We left Mission about noon on Saturday afternoon and spent the night in Wharton, TX. Our usual Holiday Inn Express had no rooms available so we stayed at the Express Inn next door to Buc-ees travel stop. We were going there anyway to buy some snacks for the road, and there was a Walmart Supercenter right across the street so it was very handy. We left Wharton about 8:30 Sunday morning and the weather was nice and cool but no rain so we when we got through Houston we...

Oct 28, 2017 - Wedding Day!!!!!

Yes it is still very cold in Arkansas!!!!! It was 29 degrees when I woke up at 4:30 this morning. I don't know why I woke up at that time when I had my alarm set for 7:00. But I was wide awake so I checked the weather on my phone hoping for a miracle change that would make it warmer today. That wasn't the case. I went back to sleep about 5:30 and the alarm woke me up at the proper time. We got up and Jackie went to Taylor's store for our last breakfast of biscuits and gravy until next spring. It was delicious as always. I had to be at...

Oct 27, 2017 - Rehearsal day

It is cold in Arkansas!!!!! When I woke up at 9:00 this morning it was 38 degrees here. It stayed cloudy all day and threatened rain which we need desperately as we have been under a burn ban for weeks. But today we didn't want rain because it is wedding rehearsal day. The high temp this afternoon was 53 degrees with a 10 mph wind out of the north. Our heat pumps on the coach are not working due to a burned out circuit board that controls the amps running through the breaker box. That happened yesterday afternoon. We were lucky enough to...

Oct 13, 2017 - We are still alive

I know it's been quite a while since I have posted. It's been an eventful month and more. I'll try to bring you up to speed about things. First of all, our granddaughter Cendyl had her surgery and everything was fine. They got all the bad cells and she just has to stay vigilant about any moles or freckles that change in shape or color. She also has to keep seeing her dermatologist and oncologist regularly. Sharon and Todd got their first flock of chickens in two of the houses they built. The other two houses weren't quite ready. They got...

Aug 28, 2017 - HARVEY!!!!!!

As you can see by our location on the map, we are back in Arkansas thanks to a monster named Harvey! I have been thinking about that name ever since the weather channel started talking about it over a week ago. I don't think I've ever known anyone by that name personally. I think I remember Jimmy Stewart making a move decades ago about a rabbit named Harvey. I'm not even sure about that. Then there was Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a real live monster. And then last week the latest Harvey disrupted our lives. All last week until Thursday we...

Jul 16, 2017 - Lots of changes

Boy, it's summer in Arkansas.....Highs in the mid to upper 90's with 60% + humidity is miserable. But tomorrow morning about 4:00am we are heading for Texas. The temperature there is about the same as here but the humidity is 30% or less most of the time with a 15mph to 25mph wind which makes it feel lots cooler. We are anxious to get there for a couple of months. So please pray for travel mercies for us. My appointment with my doctor last Monday didn't go so well. He ordered blood work as I suspected he would and it wasn't good. It seems I...

Jul 9, 2017 - More Dr visits.....

More doctor visits.....thank goodness we have good insurance. Jackie saw his cardiologist last month and it wasn't as good as he hoped it would be. His blood pressure was really high so he is on a new medication and has doubled the dosage on another one. It seems to be working as his readings have come down to normal at times. Of course our b/p monitor is at our house in Texas, so we had to buy another one so we can check his b/p at least twice a day. He feels fine and has no side effects except he naps a lot. Every time he sits down to...

Jun 7, 2017 - Good news?

I promised to post an update after my visit to the surgeon in Little Rock. So here it is. The MRI showed that there is more arthritis in the knee than the x-rays showed. So the earlier thought that a simple scope of the knee would take care of the problem will no longer be an option. The doctor said that as long as I'm able to tolerate the pain and stay as mobile as I'm satisfied with, just keep on keeping on. If the pain gets intolerable or I'm not able to do normal activities, then give them a call and they will get me in for a complete...
