Aug 28, 2017 - HARVEY!!!!!!

As you can see by our location on the map, we are back in Arkansas thanks to a monster named Harvey! I have been thinking about that name ever since the weather channel started talking about it over a week ago. I don't think I've ever known anyone by that name personally. I think I remember Jimmy Stewart making a move decades ago about a rabbit named Harvey. I'm not even sure about that. Then there was Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a real live monster. And then last week the latest Harvey disrupted our lives. All last week until Thursday we...

Jul 16, 2017 - Lots of changes

Boy, it's summer in Arkansas.....Highs in the mid to upper 90's with 60% + humidity is miserable. But tomorrow morning about 4:00am we are heading for Texas. The temperature there is about the same as here but the humidity is 30% or less most of the time with a 15mph to 25mph wind which makes it feel lots cooler. We are anxious to get there for a couple of months. So please pray for travel mercies for us. My appointment with my doctor last Monday didn't go so well. He ordered blood work as I suspected he would and it wasn't good. It seems I...

Jul 9, 2017 - More Dr visits.....

More doctor visits.....thank goodness we have good insurance. Jackie saw his cardiologist last month and it wasn't as good as he hoped it would be. His blood pressure was really high so he is on a new medication and has doubled the dosage on another one. It seems to be working as his readings have come down to normal at times. Of course our b/p monitor is at our house in Texas, so we had to buy another one so we can check his b/p at least twice a day. He feels fine and has no side effects except he naps a lot. Every time he sits down to...

Jun 7, 2017 - Good news?

I promised to post an update after my visit to the surgeon in Little Rock. So here it is. The MRI showed that there is more arthritis in the knee than the x-rays showed. So the earlier thought that a simple scope of the knee would take care of the problem will no longer be an option. The doctor said that as long as I'm able to tolerate the pain and stay as mobile as I'm satisfied with, just keep on keeping on. If the pain gets intolerable or I'm not able to do normal activities, then give them a call and they will get me in for a complete...

May 25, 2017 - update May 25

We have been home in Arkansas almost a month. The weather here has been cool and damp most of the time which makes us miss Texas even more. I saw the doctor in Little Rock and had X-rays of my knee. He says I have a miniscus tear and only a very small piece of cartiledge preventing me from having bone on bone. He ordered an MRI which I had several days later and I will find out the prognosis about surgery on June 1st. The best news is that I'm not having any pain and most days I don't have to use the cane at all except when I leave the...

Sep 24, 2016 - Catching up

Sorry I haven't posted for so long. The Verizon internet signal has been very bad ever since we left Texas. I have tried a couple of times to write an entry, but the signal would drop me and I lose the post.......grrrrr. We did leave Mission on time and we drove it straight through. The weather was good and by the time it got dark, we were too close to home to stop. Our kids opened up the motor home, put out the slides and turned the air conditioning on for us so we came on in. They even had supper waiting for us when we arrived at 10:30...

Jul 5, 2016 - another new adventure

Our brief summer in Branson has flown by. I can't believe how fast it happened. We saw some old friends in addition to our regular bunch. We played some games at the Lodge,(some were more fun than others) we saw some shows, (the best by far was "Moses" at Sight & Sound Theater) we ate a lot, (yes that's normal for us) and we spent a lot of time with good friends. Even though the time was short this year we surely enjoyed every minute of it. And now we are back in Pottsville packing the car and getting ready to hit the road early (4:00am)...

May 11, 2016 - lots happening

Gosh, the days are flying by so fast. Some days I wonder how that can be. They sure didn't go this fast when I was in high school......yes I can remember that far back!!!!! On Tuesday after we came home from Branson, the crew arrived to install the canopy over the motor home. We had to pull the motor home out while they worked. They worked all day with a few interruptions. But they ran out of daylight so we had to spend the night at Bill's house since the coach was not on level ground so we couldn't put the slides out. We were also too far...

Apr 24, 2016 - Back home......

I was correct in my last post that it was going to be busier last week. But first I have to comment on the wonderful weather we have had. The temps have been just about perfect with just a slight breeze.......so nice!!!! Last Monday was busy with phone calls about our Texas project. More details will be released in due time......stay tuned..... That evening we were invited up to Bill & Christie's for hamburgers which became bacon cheeseburgers when we finished adding the fixins, and to watch The Voice on TV. Christie had also made some...

Apr 17, 2016 - Busy, Busy

Last week was a little busy and this week is going to be a lot busier. On Thursday we had lunch at Brown's Catfish. We met Tommy & Lorene, Lila & Louis, Marie & Jerry, Sandra & Richard, a friend of Lila's, and Tommy & Lorene's grandson and his family. We spent over two hours visiting and laughing and of course we ate our fill of delicious catfish and all the trimmings. Lila was feeling pretty good. She has gained 5 pounds and her hair is coming back in. She looked so cute in her denim hat. She has finished all her radiation treatments and...

Apr 12, 2016 - settling in......

We are trying to get settled for a few weeks before heading on to Branson. Sunday morning we attended our home church Woodlawn Freewill Baptist in Russellville. It is always good to see all our friends there. After church we went to lunch at Western Sizzlin with Tommy & Lorene and their granddaughter. We ate and talked and laughed until after 2:00. We had a lot of catching up to do. We came home and changed clothes and lounged the rest of the day. It takes me a few days to get over the trip home. Monday I was up and at it early.....you...

Apr 9, 2016 - Resting & Mowing

We were bone tired last night and both of us were asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow. But a good night's sleep can do wonders for an old body. It was pretty cool and I noticed the heat pumps came on several times during the night. This morning we used the electric heater until about 10:30 and by noon we had the door and windows open. Love this Arkansas weather I think...????? Jackie went to Taylor's Store early this morning and brought me chocolate gravy and biscuits. I always look forward to that whenever we are here. I lounged...
