Aug 26, 2018 - The rest of the week...went by fast...

Five days have flown by...though the first two were testy and then the Reunion and today was for recovery. Wednesday I made an appointment with the eye clinic. My regular ophthalmologist was in surgery so I was going to see Sue's, who is in the same clinic. I had been feeling pressure on my left eye and was beginning to get little stingers in my eye. By Tuesday night they were more severe. Thus a quick trip to let the specialist look and see if they could diagnose the issue. Dr. Hall is very, very good but she could not find anything wrong...

Aug 21, 2018 - Fast Three Days

A lot going on and moving fast...or so it seems. Sunday was a typical August day, hot as all get out and a humidity to match. I had seen the weather report and knew I needed to get the drains hooked up on the new bed cover for the truck. I needed to enlarge the hole in the side of the truck bed for the drain hose from 3/4 of an inch to one inch. Nothing a quick trip to Lowe's would not cure...that and $32 for a drill bit. I followed it up with a stop to fill up the truck and then to WalMart. Grabbed a couple of items and then back to the...

Aug 18, 2018 - Whew...back in NLR

It has been a few days since I last updated things. Several reasons: First: Internet connection in Red Bay went to heck. Speeds so slow nothing would update or download. I could not try to bring everything up to date due to the inability to stay connected. Second: Down time with nothing happening...then booming. Third: Long day of traveling and time to rest the driver: Now let me give you a quick update of what all has happened. Tuesday, we sat all day, waiting to hear from Brannon to see if he would be able to see us this trip. Tuesday...

May 2, 2018 - Uh...back on a Cummins lot...

We were up and around early on Tuesday to get ready to go to Ozarka Tire. It has been three years since we bought 6 new tires for the Bus. After our visit to Arizona and some time in the desert we felt it was time to have Donnie (manager) to get someone to look at our tires and if necessary do an alignment to make sure we get the most mileage we can on these tires. RV tires generally start cracking and start breaking down before you get any significant wear on the tread. We had everything done and pulled out a little after 9:00 a.m. and...

Apr 30, 2018 - Our home is home

Sunday morning did not start too early. We slept in until 7:30 or so. Then it was time to start the process of getting ready to go. This would be a short day...only 200 miles to the Downtown RV Park on the Arkansas River, just east of the I-30 bridge. We left Mount Pleasant a little after 10:00 a.m. and arrived a little before 2:00 p.m. We got set up and I ran to McDonald's two blocks away and grabbed a late lunch for both of us. Then it was time for a nap. We had set up a dinner at Beth's for around 6:00p.m. Our first chance to see...

Aug 13, 2017 - Little Rock/Cabot, Arkansas

Our next stop was to see some other family members, Glenda’s sister and other brother near Cabot/Lonoke/Carlisle, Arkansas. We had a short driving day to Cabot, but despite several phone calls we made over the last week or two, in which the owner assured us he had a pull through spot for us, he had one back-in spot that was on such a slope there was no hope that we could level the coach. We grudgingly stayed the night, and after telling him to stop lying to people on the phone, (if you're going to give your spaces away first-come,...

Sue's trip west 2016

Nov 2, 2015 - In Arkansas

From Litle Rock North KOA Had a change of plans today. When I looked at the map I saw where we were going through Tupelo, MS whch is the birthplace of Elvis. It's also the home of one of my favorite authors, Peggy Webb. Her family actually knew Elvis and one of them ocassionally shared a playpen with hm. One of the characters in her books is a basset hound named Elvis who thinks he is really the reincarnated King. If you've had a bassset hound you can imagine an attitude just like this. The books are southern charm and comedy and a...

Oct 9, 2015 - North Little Rock

We stayed at the Eagle Thursday - it was a nice day and we should have gone somewhere as it started to rain that night and was raining Friday AM. Could not get another day at these last parks so we packed up between rain showers and left. Hwy 65 south of Branson is curvy and very scenic, we drove through Arkansas mountains and were fortunate to hit rain on the straighter roads and it was dry or just misting on those curvy mountain roads. At Conway AR which is north of Little Rock we were in a very heavy rain shower - it cleared up as we...

2015 Eagle trip

Mar 17, 2015 - St. Patrick's Day

At departure time, it was 68F and clearing. Again on 59 (to become I69), we passed Nacogdoches (known to the locals as "Nac"), which is the oldest town in Texas. Folks who are from Texas talk about it as though it were really several different states ("I'm from South Texas"), and climate- and terrain-wise, it is. East Texas is green and wooded. This route took us through lots of towns and traffic lights. We left Texas and entered Arkansas, getting onto I30. It was 81F and sunny. 430 is the Little Rock bypass and the North Little Rock KOA...

Jul 10, 2014 - Back to North Little Rock

We have returned to Riverside in North Little Rock for just the night. Foxy couldn't wait to drag Joe across the bridge to the Clinton Library. Her wanderings were curtailed a little when the worst thunderstorm came through. As the Garth Brooks' song so aptly recalls....the thunder rolls...and the lightning strikes...and Foxy turns into a scared doggy. Luckily, the storm passed pretty fast and we were able to calm her down and she had a good night.

Summer 2014 & Beyond

Jun 19, 2014 - Short Stay

Meet up with my Arizona neighbors this afternoon after a short drive from the Oklahoma border. We went to a casino for lunch (and that's all). Later we compared notes and realized that we would not meet up again until August when we get together in New Hampshire. They are headed to Knoxville and I only going as far as Parkers Crossroads,TN. No pictures because there is much I can do while driving. When I get garden spots like Sallisaw, OK there is much to take worth sharing. So much for now. Tomorrow I head across the Mississippi River and...
