Feb 27, 2006 - A Little BUMP in the Road

A bump in the road is usually analogous for incurring some problem that interferes with an objective. Well, our fulltime RV life is on hold for a little while. Read on... We have now been back in Arkansas for about three weeks, arriving in Cabot on February 7. We spent the first week there, visiting with the kids and going to doctor's appointments. Alice Faye had an MRI on her shoulder and I had a biopsy on my prostate. Alice Faye, it turns out, does have a torn rotator cuff which will eventually require surgery to repair, but we are opting...

Turney Travels 2007

Jan 2, 2006 - Little Rock

Today Annie and I left Oklahoma City around 9am. I had taken the time to read the "Where to Retire" book and found a couple of places in Arkansas to check out. Fayettevlle and Hot Springs were on the "Best places list". The plan was for us to travel to Fayettville and then to Little Rock/Hot Springs. After talking to "On-Star" and navigator Ann, we discovered that the closest airport to Fayetteville would be Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nope...that won't work. I have a list of things that will help me decide where to settle. One of those items is...

Next stop was at the Morristown Cracker Barrel where we enjoyed a relaxed breakfast -in front of...

Aug 21, 2005 - Welcome Home!

We drove into our old driveway about noon on Sunday. The two grandsons (Keegan and Monty) had made us "Welcome Home" signs as well as a "Happy Anniversary" sign. Sure did make for a nice "homecoming" even if we are actually living in a motorhome. All in all, our first outing as fulltimers was a very positive experience, water leaks and all. The only thing I would do different (and will do different next time) is to take more time. I don't like to feel like I have to be somewhere at a scheduled time. Anyway, here we are, back in Arkansas and...

Turney Travels

Mar 30, 2005 - Little Rock

Little Rock is fairly manageable, that is, getting around is not bad. Since I need to have a flat tire fixed on by bike, I drop it off at a place that assures me it will be done later in the day. Going downtown to the Clinton Presidential Center, I get a little confused on which road to take but am able to correct. Parking is easy right at the center, so I leave Rhonda there all day and walk to the capitol and through the River Center area. Any presidential library would be interesting to me, because there is all the stuff that goes with...
