May 9, 2014 - Arkansas Diamond Part 2

When last I wrote I was waiting for my Tuesday appointment with the urologist to determine the best course of action to remove my very own “Arkansas Diamond” of a kidney stone. Here is the rest of the story… After a very uncomfortable week of being stabbed, by both my kidney stone and the stent, Tuesday finally arrived. My appointment at the urology clinic was a “good/bad” situation. The “good” was manifest in my positive impression of the clinic and Dr. Hollenbach’s staff. The clinic is clean and modern. Dr. Hollenbach’s staff is...

Apr 30, 2014 - My Own Arkansas Diamond

Willis, Blayde and I are still at Lake Catherine State Park camping just a few sites down from my parents. It has been a mixture of play (sitting outside playing Sequence at the picnic table with my mother), hikes (Willis and I completed the Falls Branch Trail so far), yummy food, stormy weather (we are only 75 miles from Mayflower and the devastation caused by a tornado Sunday) and pain (see hospital story to follow below). My emotions have run the gamut of blissfully contented to agonizingly distraught the last four days. Let’s talk bliss...

Apr 27, 2014 - Visiting Parents 2014

We've had a wonderful time visiting with my parents in NE TX these last couple of weeks and now have traveled, as a group, to Lake Catherine State Park in Arkansas. We will spend the week with them here and then they will go home and we will head towards the rest of our summer adventure. As I always tend to do around my mother's cooking, we have eaten way too much delicious food and are now diligently trying to hike the extra weight back off while exploring the area around the lake. It is very hilly here and we are experiencing some lovely...

Aug 2, 2009 - Lake Catherine State Park- Arkansas

We left Burleson at about 9 this morning. I decided to call Lake Catherine State Park and make a reservation. Good thing that I did, because we got one of the last few campsites and it is really nice, right on the lake with ful hookups and a new concrete pad. Buz and Lennie arrived at about 7:00 p.m. and the festivities began. We had a great time around the campfire, and Dale and Buz really "hunkered down". We grilled hot dogs for dinner. Buz and Lennie slept on the airbed. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/lakecatherine/
